AUDREY BERNICE TAYLOR (nee FALLIS) In the early evening of Thursday, June 27, 2013, Audrey Taylor, 84, passed away unexpectedly at Park Manor Personal Care Home in Winnipeg with her husband Alan at her side. She was born on October 11, 1928 in La Riviere, MB to Albert and Elma (Nicholson) Fallis. She married Alan Taylor of Oakville, MB on August 14, 1954 and they made their home and raised their family of five children in the RM of East St. Paul, MB. In addition to her husband of 58 years, Audrey is survived by her three daughters Beverley, Barbara (Jim Goatcher), and Linda (Bill Parker); and son Perry (Carol); nine grandchildren: Ronald, Bryden and Quinn Richardson, Kaley and Brittany Tallon, Will and Jessica Parker, and Evan and Alyssa Taylor; two step-grandchildren Erica and Elyse Goatcher-Bergmann; great-granddaughter Madison McFadzean; brother Milton Fallis; sister-in-law Lois Taylor; brother-in-law Bill Taylor (Dawn); nieces and nephews Dwayne Fallis and Jane (Maurice) Geddes, Sherry Hobson and Kent (Lisa) LaCroix; Pam (Dean) Meyers and Shelley Purvis; and many extended family members and dear friends. She is predeceased by her son Ronald; son-in-law Royden Richardson; and sister-in-law Faye Fallis. Audrey and her older brother Milton were raised on Sunny Hillside Farm in the Pembina Valley near La Riviere, MB where they helped with the chores of domestic and mixed farming life, attended country school and church on Sundays, and enjoyed the lively inventions and innovations of their father, Albert. After graduation Audrey attended Normal School (Manitoba Teachers' College) in Winnipeg where she lived in residence and met lifelong friend Gwen Hogue and many other friends. By age 20, Audrey had commenced her career in education, teaching in rural schools in Homewood and Holland, MB prior to getting married in 1954, and then in two Winnipeg school divisions until the arrival of their first child in 1956. Audrey returned to part-time teaching in 1968, gradually increasing to full-time work in the River East School Division until she retired in 1987. Audrey was actively involved in East St. Paul community life, the UCW of Bird's Hill United Church, and the River East School Division, where all five children attended school. She and Alan were founding members of the Spring Hill Trailblazers snowmobile club, which was a source of family outdoor adventure and fun trips with other good friends. Over the years Audrey enjoyed curling, square dancing, golfing and RV trips with her husband. She made sure her children learned to swim at the local YMCA, attend Sunday School, and participate in sports and clubs at the local community centre. Her kids gratefully remember the many picnic lunches and gear packed into the family station wagon for beach outings and camping trips. Her grandchildren will always remember her Tupperware drawer in the kitchen, her pumpkin-carving parties in the fall, Thanksgiving visits with the Richardsons at the Delta Marsh lodge, and her mac and cheese. Audrey had a great sense of humour and a quick wit. She was a loyal friend and a loving and supportive partner in her cherished marriage. She was frustrated by the changes in her lifestyle and functioning brought about by a broken hip and, more recently, the gradual onset of Lewy Body Dementia. The family wishes to thank Melanie Riach and her team at Manitoba Home Care, as well as the doctors and staff at Park Manor Personal Care Home for their patient and attentive care of Audrey. A service celebrating Audrey's life will be held at Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main Street on Thursday, July 4 at 2:00 p.m. Reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in remembrance of Audrey may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba or to Park Manor Personal Care Home. Glen Eden Funeral Home 338-7111

  • My deepest condolences to Alan and the Taylor families from ours. Even though I was never a student, Mrs. Taylor's earliest teachings to me were that of sharp wit and matching sarcasm. In a battle of wits, she couldn't be out-maneuvered, and was never out-gunned. Life lessons taken to heart. Thank you Mrs. Taylor.....Robbie. - Posted by: Robert Galayda (Friend of the family) on: Jul 03, 2013

  • Mrs. Taylor was my grade 4 teacher. Through the years she is the teacher I realized that impacted my learning style. She pushed me to achieve.
