Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryVIMY BERTRAM KENNEDY April 9, 1921 June 2, 2013 Vimy Bertram Kennedy passed away peacefully with family by his side at the Deer Lodge Personal Care Home. As well as many friends, Vimy leaves to mourn his passing many family members. First and foremost is his loving wife of 67 years, Mary. He was a loving father to Beverley Paley (Brian), Dianne Kennedy, Cathy Kennedy (George Floresco); he was grandpa to Jeremy Paley, Amanda Lancaster (Jason), Aaron Floresco (Rhonda Hinther), Sean Floresco (Jessica); great-grandpa to Luke Lancaster and to Sebastian Hinther-Floresco. He was the greatest loving brother to his sister Reita. He was predeceased by his daughter of four months, Vilma, his mom and dad, his brothers Melville George, Harold Lloyd, Ted, Joe and Don, his sisters Grace and Marjorie. He is also mourned by extended family too numerous to mention. He was born in Stockton, Manitoba and was raised on the farm at the Stockton Ferry. He married Mary Rosdobutko on November 10, 1945. Together they had four daughters. Vimy worked at Air Canada (Trans Canada Airlines) for 32 years. He was well known by all airport staff as the man who had the greatest sense of humour. His sense of humour was with him until his last few days of his life. He loved the great outdoors no matter what the weather. He enjoyed fishing and did some hunting. He was a curler in his youth outside on natural ice. He was an avid sports fan, especially NFL football and USA college football. He loved to help anyone who needed help and he never expected anything in return. At Deer Lodge he was known as the "mascot of Tower 5" and we were told that Tower 5 will never be the same without Vimy and his sense of humour. A celebration of his life will be held on Tuesday, July 2, 2013 at Chapel Lawn, 4000 Portage Avenue at 2:00 p.m. All are welcome to attend. In lieu of flowers, please make a charitable donation to a charity of your choice. We wish to thank the amazing staff on Tower 5 at Deer Lodge Personal Care Home for the loving care given to Vimy in the last year and a half. My Uncle Vimy was such a special man. I have so many fond memories of him---all the wonderful times we spent when we visited him and my Aunt Mary and cousins Beverly, Dianne, and Cathy in Canada. So much love, so much fun, so much laughter. You will be missed, Uncle Vimy! - Posted by: Karen Cook (Niece) on: Jun 30, 2013
