ELIZABETH BOITSON (nee CHIKOUSKY) March 15, 1939 June 28, 2013 Peacefully on Friday, June 28, 2013, our Mother and Baba, Elizabeth, was reunited in heaven with her husband Joseph, after only 16 months apart. Remembering her lovingly is her daughter Donna (Roger), grandchildren Warren and Melissa (Michael), son Don (Andrea), grandchildren Ashley, Meghan and Matthew, son Charles (Lyn) and granddaughter Carly. Elizabeth is also survived by her sisters Nellie and Leda (Len) and brother John (Margaret), as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Elizabeth was predeceased by her parents Peter and Rose Chikousky, brother-in-law Tom and husband Joseph. Elizabeth was born in Fisher Branch, MB and spent her childhood years on the family farm in Kilkenny. She fell in love at a young age with a handsome man from Komarno. Elizabeth and Joseph married and spent 54 remarkable years together raising their family and enjoying life. After a brief career as a teacher, Mom spent many years working at Eaton's and The Bay downtown. Elizabeth loved to cook and bake for family and friends and her home was always open for a cup of coffee and a sampling of her favourite recipe of the month. Mom also welcomed many relatives to stay at her home while they attended school; or to those starting their careers in the city. Sunday dinners were a regular occurrence at Mom's and the cozy kitchen was always overflowing with good food and great conversation. Many will remember the great perogy feasts whether smothered in butter with traditional fillings or her special saskatoon-filled delicacies. For many years, knitting and crocheting were her favourite past times and countless doilies, afghans and baby blankets have become sentimental gifts for many family members and friends. She also enjoyed gardening and berry picking, which resulted in the canning of fruits, vegetables, jams and jellies. Family was of the utmost importance to Mom. She was extremely proud of her children and especially grandchildren all of whom will miss her dearly. A special thank you to Donna and Roger for caring for Mom in their home for the past six weeks, ensuring she was comfortable in her final days with us. Prayers will be held on Wednesday, July 3, 2013 at 7:30 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, July 4, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of St. Stephen, Pleasant Home. Interment will follow in St. Stephen Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Stephen Church, Pleasant Home, MB Box 136 Teulon, MB R0C3B0 or CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermot Ave. Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9. We will forever remember you in our hearts. We love you! Vichnaya Pam'yat. Cropo Funeral Chapel, 204-586-8044

I remember Elizabeth as a very welcoming person opening her home to myself & our young son Devin when he attended the pre-school summer program for the deaf. A more wonderful person you will never meet. As my first teacher in the Leroy one room school, unfortunately I remember very little, only that she was very kind. Rest in peace Elizabeth - Posted by: Roberta Stocki (My first teacher) on: Jul 04, 2013

We are feeling the loss of a wonderful lady. As Barbie put, I used to spend my summer holidays with Aunty Elizabeth and Uncle Joe. I always had a wonderful time. She always made sure she had so many different goodies made, and when they came out to visit she always, always brought baking, some things she canned. My mom and her phoned one another almost every day, and we, especially mom is missing her. Donna, Donald and Charles you had a wonderful and loving mother. She will be forever in our hearts. - Posted by: Karen (Niece) on: Jul 04, 2013

There are no words to express the loss we all are feeling. Auntie Elizabeth was a one of a kind woman. I spent every summer of my childhood with Uncle Joe and Auntie Elizabeth. She was so thoughtful and giving and I will miss her with all my heart. You will never be forgotten Auntie. - Posted by: Barbie (niece) on: Jul 02, 2013
