Mom grew up in St. Laurent, MB then moved to Winnipeg were she raised eight children. Mom worked as a cook at the Health Sciences Centre, University of Winnipeg, Winnipeg Clinic and in the camp at Ft. McMurray, AB. Mom enjoyed traveling especially her many trips to Las Vegas. She enjoyed and took pride in her volunteer work at nursing homes, her last one being Golden West Centennial Lodge when she was in her late 70s. Mom had a fun loving spirit and was very caring, everyone she met loved her. Her wittiness and great sense of humour remained with her to the very end. The family would like to thank the staff at Chez Nous where she resided for a year and a half, and the staff at the St. Boniface Hospital for their compassion and care, and friends. As a young child, I remember Aunt Rita's beautiful warm smile and kind spirit. I remember all the visits to St. Laurent on summer week ends where we would see all our cousins, aunts & uncles, grandparents & great-grandparents. I will forever remember her! - Posted by: Betty M Somerville (Niece) on: Aug 28, 2013
