MARY GRANDMONT April 8, 1925 - July 6, 2013 Peacefully, at her home in Stonewall Mary passed away on July 6, 2013, at the age of 88 years. Mary was predeceased by her beloved husband Leo in 1979, her parents Mary and George Siska, and in-laws Rosalie and George Grandmont, son-in-law Bruce Rennie, great-granddaughter Felisha Rennie. She was also predeceased by brothers John (Mamie) Siska, George (Doreen) Siska, Joe (Blanche) Siska, sister Anne Desilets, and brother-in-law Norman Brooks. Also, Mary was predeceased on Leo's side, by Yvonne (Marcel Raffard), Emil (Lydia) Grandmont, Frank and Raymond Grandmont, and Cecile (David) Oliver. Mary is lovingly remembered by her six children, Diane Rennie, George (Gayle) Grandmont, Gerald (Lori) Grandmont, Janet (Bill) Kennedy, Catherine (Michael) Macdonald, Philip (Lori) Grandmont, eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, Tracy and Blair Farmer (Jonathon), Ryan Grandmont and Christine McIvor, Patrick and Angela Grandmont (Preston, Malcolm and Evangeline) Jena and Jeff Stewart (Everett), Josh Grandmont, Christian and Jennifer Kennedy (Liam and Lauren), Camille Kennedy and Cara Kennedy. She is also survived by sisters Barbara Siska, Elizabeth Parker and Victoria Brooks, brothers Gabriel (Veronica) Siska, Elias (Irma) Siska, Ralph (Joan) Siska, and in-laws Lawrence (Irene) Grandmont, Ethel Grandmont, Darlene Grandmont and Florence (Walt) Mikkelsen, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and close friends. Mary was born in Saskatchewan, raised in Ontario before moving to Argyle and later retiring to Stonewall. In 1943 she met the love of her life Leo Grandmont at a dance. Love blossomed and in 1945 they married and started their family in 1947. As well as raising their six children, Mary was a partner in establishing the family business, Leo's Sales & Service, which is operated today by her children and grandchildren. Mary had many interests and talents: a gifted artist, seamstress who enjoyed knitting and needlepoint, a baker and fantastic cook, gardener and card playing whiz. She was president of the C.W.L., sang in the church choir and taught Sunday School. She loved lawn bowling and worked tirelessly for the club. Later she became treasurer of the Argyle Cemetery Board. She loved to curl, enjoyed golf and going to Curves. Her love of travel, took her to many places around the world, with her favourite being Hawaii. She enjoyed her annual trips to Vancouver Island visiting family and numerous friends. Mary was very influential in shaping the lives of her family. She showed courage, strength, determination, independence, creativity and wisdom in all aspects of her life. We will forever miss her. Prayers and viewing will be held on Thursday, July 11, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. at MacKenzie Funeral Home, 433 Main St., Stonewall, MB. A memorial mass will be celebrated on Friday, July 12, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at Christ the King Catholic Church, 315 2nd St. N. Stonewall, MB. Flowers are gratefully declined.
