Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOHN MEDOCK April 17, 1921 July 6, 2013 John Medock passed away peacefully on July 6, 2013. He was the loving husband and deeply devoted companion of his best friend and wife Marci, who recently passed away in May. They are now together again in Heavenly peace. John is survived by sisters Isabel and Stephanie as well as numerous nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews. John was born on the farm in the Zbruch District of Komarno, MB on April 17, 1921. He was the son of Peter and Jessie. His siblings include Ann, Mary, Nicholas, Isabel (Maskow), Michael and Stephanie (Tobin). In 1940, John left the farm and worked in Toronto. He enlisted in the Canadian Army in 1943 and proudly served his country until 1946 in the Second World War as an Army Transport Driver in England, Holland and Belgium. In 1950, John returned to the family farm, then moved to Winnipeg in 1955 where he worked as a carpenter until 1974. From 1974 to 1986 he worked for the provincial government in their facility maintenance branch. He retired in 1986. John remained a bachelor until he met the love of his life, Marci Dowhan. He courted her for several years until they were married on Octobert 19, 1963. Together they enjoyed travel and exploring the world. A few of their destinations included New York, Australia, New Zealand and many Canadian and USA destinations. When they were not on an actual travel tour adventure, they would regularly watch documentaries about foreign countries. John and Marci both had a passion for learning about other cultures, and sealed a strong bond through this shared interest. The family wants to convey appreciation and gratitude to the staff on Tower Six at Deer Lodge for the loving care they gave to John. He taught us all many important life lessons about love, determination and acceptance. John will be sadly missed by all of us. A private graveside service, officiated by Father Isadore, has taken place. Glen Eden Funeral Home 338-7111

We always enjoyed having John and Marci as our neighbours, talking about travel etc. When we bought our house, John was only too willing to help with the construction of our garage. We couldn't have done it without his experienced help. We always remember working with him on the garage and think of him every time we go into the garage for our car. And now we say a little prayer for John having known him for quite some time...from early 60's. Thank you again John Ed and Erna Nych - Posted by: Edward and Erna Nych (Former neighbours on Fleet Avenue) on: Jul 21, 2013
