AMBER LEE JONASSON (nee JOHNSON) Suddenly on Thursday, July 11, 2013 our beloved mother, daughter, sister, niece, cousin and friend passed away peacefully at Health Sciences Centre, Winnipeg, Manitoba, at the age of 41 years, with her family by her side. Amber is lovingly remembered by her children Brendan, Britt-lee Jonasson (Allan McRae) and Ryley McCarroll (Dan); mother Cheryl (Jim) Tanner; father Larry (Denise) Johnson; sister Shelley Kern (Tim Hannah); special aunt Alana Webster; special friends Ken Meurrens, Brad Klish, Linda and Steini Jonasson; and many wonderful aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. She was predeceased by her two Grandmothers, Jean Steven and Nola Johnson; and her good friend Wayne Cunnington. Amber grew up in East Kildonan and graduated from Kildonan East Collegiate in 1989. She was full of life, energy and spunk and was passionate about serving her patients as a lab technician. She raised three beautiful children and cherished every moment with Brendan, Britt-lee and Ryley. Amber also loved the quiet times at her favourite place at Luther Village where she went with her children and friends every July. Amber found peace and comfort climbing her favourite rock and swimming in her private paradise. A private Service with family and close friends will be held on Sunday, August 4, 2013. Make inquiries to amberjonasson@hotmail.ca Special thanks to our nurse, and Amber's friend Rose Jacobson, who stayed by her side in Emergency. Thanks also to her Hematologist Dr. V. Banerjio, to all the Emergency staff at Health Sciences Centre, and especially nurse Wendy who was with us when we lost our beautiful Amber. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hemophilia Society, Manitoba Chapter, 944 Portage Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3G 0R1, or Luther Village Bible Camp, www.luthervillage.ca Richard Wojcik's Funeral Chapel & Crematorium, 1020 Main Street, Winnipeg, wojciksfuneralchapel.com, 204-586-8668. ...I stood there in the salt spray air Felt wind sweeping over my face I ran up through the rocks to the old Wooden cross It's a place where I can find some peace... Narrow daylight entered my room Shining hours were brief Winter is over Summer is near Are we stronger than we believe? ...Diana Krall

Condolences & Memories (4 entries)

  • You were both little girls when I last saw you, just beginning the journey into young adulthood. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you and I know Amber will be in your hearts forever. Here is a lovely poem: Parable of immortality (A ship leaves . . ) by Henry Van Dyke - 1852 - 1933 I am standing by the seashore. A ship at my side spreads her white sails to the morning breeze and starts for the blue ocean. She is an object of beauty and strength, and I stand and watch until at last she hangs like a speck of white cloud just where the sun and sky come down to mingle with each other. Then someone at my side says, 'There she goes! Gone where? Gone from my sight - that is all. She is just as large in mast and hull and spar as she was when she left my side and just as able to bear her load of living freight to the places of destination. Her diminished size is in me, not in her. And just at the moment when someone at my side says, 'There she goes! ' , there are other eyes watching her coming, and other voices ready to take up the glad shout: 'Here she comes!' - Posted by: Patricia Pruden (Friend) on: Jul 31, 2013

  • I am so sorry for your loss. I know the hole in your heart will never be filled but the ache will ease in time particularly as you recall every special moment you've shared together and know how many people Amber touched in her life and how her memory will live on through those who loved and cared for her. - Posted by: Debra Wutke (Friend of Shelley (sister)) on: Jul 22, 2013

  • Shelley, Cheryl and family ... my deepest sympathies and condolences to you on the tragic passing of Amber. She will be missed, but never forgotten! - Posted by: Monte Rowe (Friend) on: Jul 22, 2013

  • My thoughts are with the family as they struggle with the loss of someone so vibrant and full of life! Thanks, Amber, for your care with the residents. - Posted by: Karen (Staff at a PCH Amber served as lab tech) on: Jul 20, 2013
