Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryCATHERINE CAMERON KIRBY December 5, 1913 - July 19, 2013 Catherine Kirby passed away quietly Friday, July 19, 2013 at the age of 99 years. She was born and spent most of her life in the St. James area. Her husband, Jacob Kirby in 2007, and her daughter, Barbara Robson in 2005, predeceased her. She will be lovingly missed and remembered by her granddaughter Victoria (Scot), and stepdaughter Joanne, as well as many other family and friends. Catherine, known as Kay to her friends, was a very social individual; she loved spending time with friends and family reminiscing and telling stories from her past. She kept herself busy by baking cookies, trying new recipes, knitting with the craft club, and keeping up with the latest novels by her favourite authors. Catherine also was an avid Blue Bomber fan, who for quite a while was a season ticket holder and never missed watching a game. She also travelled around the world with her husband Jacob, enjoying the opportunity to visit many different cities and countries, always making new friends along the way. Thank you to the staff at Heritage Lodge for their kindness and care while Catherine was in their residence. A funeral service for Catherine will take place Monday, July 29 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Vital Cemetery. A reception will follow at the family's residence. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Siloam Mission, 300 Princess Street, Winnipeg, MB R3B 0Z9 or the Red Cross, 1111 Portage Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3G 0S8 would be appreciated. Mr and Mrs Kirby had a cottage at Balsam Harbour. I spent many enjoyable hours with Barb on the beach while our children played at the beach. She was always such a gracious hostess. - Posted by: Alison Poetker (her daughter Barbara was my Maid of Honour) on: Aug 05, 2013
