DORIS EDITH DREVLO (MCAULAY) March 6, 1920 - July 20, 2013 Peacefully on Saturday, July 20, 2013, Doris Drevlo, aged 93 years, passed away at Luther Home. She will be lovingly remembered by son Allan (Marianne), daughters Marilyn, Joyce (Dennis), Nancy (John), ten grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren; sister Jean (Ade), sister-in-law Tillie Drewlo, and brother-in-law Ham (Doreen). Doris was predeceased by her husband Bert, daughter Wendy, son-in-law Ken, granddaughter Susanne, sister Phyllis (Gayle), brothers Edwin (Eileen), Murray (Evelyn), and Kenny, as well as brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law on the Drevlo side. Doris was born in Selkirk, MB, the oldest of six children, and grew up on the family farm in Clandeboye. After her marriage to Bert they moved to West Kildonan where they raised their family. Doris was an excellent homemaker who excelled at cooking, entertaining, sewing, and gardening. In her younger years she curled, was involved in the West Kildonan Horticultural Society, the West Kildonan Community Centre, and taught square dancing to the neighbourhood teenagers. Summers were spent camping, cottaging at Gull Lake, and later on a cottage was purchased at Star Lake. This cottage became a special place for family and friends to gather in the summer. Doris moved from her home in West Kildonan to Luther Home at the age of 88. Our family would like to thank the Luther Home staff for their excellent care and compassion. We would especially like to acknowledge Wanse and Chris for the special bond they shared with our mother. Also thank you to Hanny for her spiritual care. A private family service and interment has taken place. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Luther Home, 1081 Andrews Street, Winnipeg, MB, R2V 2G9. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements. www.gilbartfuneralhome.com

Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • To the Drevlo family I wish to express my deepest sympathies on the passing of your mother. I will always cherish the memories I have of your mother when I resided in the family home for a number of years after graduating and working in the Winnipeg area. She became like a second mother to me. She will be remembered always. - Posted by: Joanne Bietting (niece) on: Jul 27, 2013
