Warren was never happier than he was when he was surrounded by his family as well as Paulette, nieces, nephews, neighbours, and many friends. During the Second World War, he joined the Canadian Forces and served overseas as a Wireless Air Gunner. They then moved to Stony Mountain where he became a corrections officer at the Stony Mountain Penitentiary until his retirement in 1981. In 1991, Warren and Betty moved back to the Ruth homestead in Sidney, MB. Round dancing, square dancing, old time dancing and being active Church members (28 years at Stony Mountain Christ Church) with the last 21 years at the Austin Anglican Church, is what this active couple did together; this is where they met many special friends. • I have fond memories of Warren, tall and larger than life, with his high leather boots laced up to just under his knees. I was a young, first year forestry student working for Harry Laws on his forest inventory crew in the Belair Forest Reserve. Warren was the forest ranger for the area and really impressed me. Harry made arrangements that we take our meals at the Ruth's and Betty's cooking was super. Her sandwiches in our bag lunches were great! Just what hungry young guys needed at lunch time. They were a great friendly couple and always made us welcome in their home at Stead! My best wishes go out to Betty and the family. Good people like Warren and Betty are not forgotten. - Posted by: David Rannard (Acquaintance) on: Jul 29, 2013

  • Uncle Warren The last of my mom's family, Uncle Warren will be remembered as the uncle that had a special place in the hearts of us all. We visited Stony Mountain many times in my youth. His stories and our love of nature helped me to appreciate the wilderness. Our family upbringing will forever be important. Times spent in Sydney in the early years and in the later years are special. Uncle Warren's time spent with the forestry offered many stories of times that helped lead myself in a career with forestry and conservation, now my son is the third generation of family to appreciate nature. Thanks uncle we will always remember you. - Posted by: Rick Cline (Warren is my Uncle) on: Jul 29, 2013
