Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARIA FASSINA 1931 - 2013 Unexpectedly, but peacefully, Maria Fassina passed away on Saturday, July 27, 2013 at the St. Boniface Hospital. She is survived by her sister Lina (Nicola), nieces, nephew and cousins in Italy; daughter Erminia Lucia (Antonio), son Antonio; grandchildren in Winnipeg, Desmond, Jordon, Antonio, Jestina and Dante; in Italy stepson Alfonso (Lorenza), stepdaughter Germinia (Mario); grandchildren in Italy, Sonia (Antonio), Lisa (Emmanuel), Christina (Paulo) and Ambero (Nicola); great-grandchildren in Italy, Maxima, Sabrina, Thomas, Matia, and Andrea. She is predeceased by her parents, Antonio and Lucia, her brother Nicole, and granddaughter Silvana (Antonio). Maria was born in Campobasso, Italy on May 5, 1931. She came to Canada on April 2, 1959. Mom worked at the General Hospital for many years, followed by the Sharon Home (nursing home). Maria enjoyed her Sunday dinner with her family. She was a loving and caring person and enjoyed cooking for family and friends, and liked to go to all events. The family would like to thank everyone at Beacon Hill Lodge on the 9th floor where she spent the last four and one half months. We would like to thank the staff at the St. Boniface Hospital, and our friends and family for all the caring and support. Prayers will take place at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, August 7, 2013 at Holy Rosary Church, 510 River Avenue with a funeral mass to follow at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 8. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Canadian Diabetes Association, Suite 200, 310 Broadway, Winnipeg, MB R3C 0S6 or to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba, 10-120 Donald Street, Winnipeg, MB R3C 9Z9.
