Condolences & Memories (4 entries)

  • You look great in your picture Ted; must be wearing contacts because I remember you wore glasses when we were neighbors living side by side on Stadler Ave. I also remember us playing hockey when the Recreation Center first opened up; of course you know I inherited your hockey equipment and went on to still play hockey after you left town for the army. You remember Brian Cantley; we all played hockey together then. Well Brian had a successful career in Canadian journalism and passed in July 2013. The both of you were far too young but my boyhood memories are not forgotten of the fun times we had together on the ice and at the swimming pool. Remember how we used to listen to Lori and Wayne Bellamy play their Ventures cover tunes at the Recreation Center in the small room right accross from the bowling alley? (Glen Nelson played drums) And we would comment how Walk, Don't Run sounded just as good as the recording? And Gilles Broudreau was there too in his wheelchair. Well, Gilles passed away in 2012 you know. What fun we had passing away the time listening to Lori and Wayne play their Stradocasters. Then Jim Bridgeman and Danny Jones came into the picture and had you doing things for them becuase you had such a big heart; they even borrowed your great big Ford Edsel and used it to rob the Bank of Commerce on Salls St. After that, your dad sat you down for a talk about the direction in your life and shortly after that you joined the army and went to Borden, Manitoba. I enjoyed your visits back to Red Rock and could see that you were very happy with your new choice in life. But I missed our old times together and when I came out into my backyard would enquire from your dad how you were doing; he was proud of you Ted. Very proud! All of us, you, me, Brian, and Gilles were so young then and naive about the world but we came from the greatest little town in the world. Great things come in "little packages" as you know because you, I and others grew up in Red Rock and would go on to impact the world; and yes, that is a modest statement but the love and friendship, no matter how brief in duration means more to me than anything because of the way it made me pause and think to go on and shape my own life. Thank you for being you, thank you for being my friend during that time and so naturally allowing me to share your world. May all the blessings that you would wish for yourself be upon you; until the next time we meet... Good luck Ted; Your friend Richard - Posted by: Richard Plante (Ted lived at 82 Stadler Ave and I lived at number 84.) on: Nov 16, 2014

  • Knew Ted all my life as we grew up in Red Rock and was a good friend of his sister, Frances. He was a gentle and respectful person. Enjoyed visits with him after Frances moved to Thunder Bay and he would visit. He will be missed. So saddened by his passing. - Posted by: Jeannine Pineau (Friend) on: Mar 28, 2014
