GEORGE DONLEY SCOTT It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of George Donley Scott on August 3, 2013. Dad will be sadly missed by his wife Joyce and his loving daughters Gail (Wayne), and Leslie (Norm), and his grandchildren, Kim (Taylor), Scott (Megan), Tyler (Samantha) and Erin. He is also survived by Joyce's children, Jim (Iris), Char Lynne, Randy (Rose), and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents and sisters, Phyllis and Shirley and will be missed by his sisters, Margaret and Dody, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Dad was born in Boissevain, Manitoba on March 26, 1926. Dad joined the Canadian Armed Forces on April 14, 1944 and served until April 15, 1946 in the South Pacific region, primarily in Australia. He was deeply touched by the warmth and appreciation shown by the Australian people and always cherished those memories. A fond memory was the reunion of the Number 1 Special Wireless Group in June 1994. He was also a proud member of the Royal Canadian Legion. Following the war, dad enjoyed a distinguished 39 year career at Manitoba Hydro retiring in October, 1985. His passion for the game of golf occupied much of his pre and post retirement years. His last 14 months were spent living in Poseidon Nursing Home. The family would like to extend our heartfelt appreciation to the staff for the way they loving cared for dad. In tears we saw you sinking, We watched you fade away, You suffered much in silence You fought so hard to stay. You faced your task with courage, You spirit did not bend, But still you kept on fighting, Until the very end. So when we saw you sleeping, So peaceful, free from pain, We could not wish you back, To suffer that again. He will be lovingly remembered by all those who knew him, and we all take great comfort knowing he is finally at peace. Cremation has taken place and in respect of his wishes, a private service will be held at a later date in Boissevain, Manitoba. In lieu of flowers if friends so desire, donations made be made to the Heart and Stoke Foundation. KLASSEN FUNERAL HOME 1897 Henderson Hwy. 338-0331 Condolences may be sent to www.klassenfuneralhome.com

  • I remember George's sense of humor. He always had an interest in everyone at the Day Hospital. When he came in he never forgot to ask about my family. (by name) He was a great man with a lot of determination. RIP George!! you will be missed - Posted by: Kara Rehab Assistant at Riverview DayHospital () on: Aug 14, 2013

  • Some of the greatest memories of my working life came as a result of the professional relationaship I had with George.
