JOSEPH LEWICKI November 13, 1922 - August 7, 2013 It is with deep sadness the family announces the passing of our father, grandfather and great-grandfather following his stay in hospital. Left to mourn his loss are sons Ken, Don (Bev); grandsons Jeff (Keri), Kevin (Anna); great-grandchildren Sydney and Jackson; brother Morris (Helen); and sister-in-law Rose Masniuk. Dad was predeceased by his wife Anne in 2011; his parents John and Mary; sisters Stella, Jessie; and brothers Ed, Tony and Ben. Dad was born and raised in Elmwood. He and Mom married in 1949 and settled and raised their family in West Kildonan where they resided for 60 years. He enjoyed his later years at Concordia Village. One of Dad's proudest moments was of having coached, in his teen years, a young hockey team that ended up winning a championship. In 1940 he began a career with Canada Customs that lasted till his retirement in 1978. That career was interrupted by a stint in the army from 1942 to 1946. Some of Dad's pastimes included golfing at Transcona with Bill and John and retired buddies, watching the horse races, going to the McPhillips Street Casino with Mom, playing cribbage with his brother, sons and grandsons. Dad could whip up a great lasagna and fried rice dinner. In his later years he closely followed sports on TV. The family wishes to thank the caring staffs of the Concordia Village, Homecare and Seven Oaks Hospital, 3rd Floor Unit 5, for their care and compassion. Cremation has taken place, as per Dad's wishes, there will be a private family interment. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of one's choice. Grandpa would want us to know, he's in a good place and that he is watching us all with a smile on his face, as we have made him so proud, as proud as can be that he has raised such a beautiful and special family. "Yewshku" and "Flossie" are eternally reunited. We love you Dad, Rest in Peace. CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 204-586-8044
