ANNE MIRECKI Annie (Anne) Mirecki, 85, of Winnipeg, Manitoba passed away Sunday, August 4, 2013 after deteriorating health. She was born to the late Paul and Mary Kowalchuk, September 23, 1927, in Austin, Manitoba. Anne finished school in Austin and went to work in St. Catharines, Ontario before settling back to working in Winnipeg. She married the late Peter Mirecki of Meleb, Manitoba in 1954, and they lived together on Valour Road then Lenore Street in Winnipeg. Separated, Anne was a seamstress at Gelespie's sewing factory for a number of years. She then worked at Northern Telecom until she retired in 1993. Anne traveled a lot to Austin for family and the annual Thresherman's Reunion. She traveled to Toronto taking in Niagara Falls and numerous other sites. She visited family in San Francisco and Roseville, California. Anne loved taking care of her pets and the odd stray. Anne is survived by her brother Eugene of Winnipeg, two sons: Lawrence of Roseville, California and Leonard of Winnipeg, five grandchildren: Erin and Jenna of Roseville, Vanessa and Tyler of Vancouver, and Erica of Toronto, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Anne was predeceased by her brother Nick of Austin. The family would like to thank the Southeast Personal Care Home, Nursing Station 5, and the Victoria Hospital, 5th Floor South, for their excellent care of Anne over the past few years. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be sent to the Winnipeg Humane Society website: https://www.winnipeghumanesocietydonor.ca /NetCommunity/one-time-giving Prayers and a memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m., Saturday, August 10, 2013 at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue. Anne was a wonderful lady, I am sorry to hear of her passing. Anne, mom and I went for many wonderful car rides in the 60's and 70's. We had many great times. My deepest sympathies to her family.
