  • I am very sorry to hear about your Dad's passing. I thought very highly of Stan and Ruby. They were great people. I think about all of the family often. From Leslie and Doreen Hlady - Posted by: Leslie Urbanski (Very old friend) on: Aug 12, 2013

  • Dear Pestrak Family, We had occasion to meet Stan only recently while visiting Evelyn. Evelyn thought highly of Stan and Ruby. She reminisced about their farm and the kindness and generosity that Stan and Ruby shared with her and her family. I knew from a very young age that Evelyn was and is one of the most kind and generous people I know, as well. She is very much like my Auntie Sonia! It is a great connection I think that we all seem to have. They were great friends and neighbours in Fort Rouge and lived right beside each other. Evelyn and my Auntie Sonia would sometimes talk to each other through their kitchen windows because the houses were so close together. They both moved when Safeway expropriated the property and kept in touch over the years through phone calls and cards. My Auntie Sonia suffers from slight dementia at times, so she is now living with family and I knew she wanted to visit Evelyn. That is how we got to know Stanley. He was very gracious and just let us all 'babble' -- all the while with a slight smirk! We are very sorry to hear of his passing, but we are also very fortunate to have met Stan albeit short and very sweet. - Posted by: Sonia Kolisnyk and Cindy Drysdale (Old family friends of Evelyn and the late Fred Pestrak) on: Aug 12, 2013
