Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMAC MACPHERSON September 18, 1933 - August 7, 2013 It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our dear Mac on August 7, 2013 after a short and courageous battle with cancer. Leaving to mourn his passing, his loving and devoted wife Kathy; son Lane and his children Chris (Dana), Shane, Amber (Dale), Carley and their mother, Kim (Dave), son Mick (Kim) and their children, Jesse (Sara), Justine, Alex (Tina) and their sons' mother, Delores along with Mac's great-grandchildren Christopher, Talon, Jessica, Justin, Spencer, Conner, Arianna, Izabella and Cooper. In addition, all Mac's special friends, especially his best buds Gerry and Janice who were always there for him and his wife, Katie. Mac was born in Kirkland Lake, Ontario. He joined the R.C.A.F. in 1952 and pursued his passion for aviation for the next 22 years. He was stationed in Germany, Morocco, Penhold, AB, Gimli and Winnipeg, MB. Upon retiring from the Air Force, Mac was employed as an aircraft engineer at Ontario Central Airlines, Interlake Aviation and for the next 25 years, along with partners, owned Skyline Maintenance and Avionics in Gimli. During his entire career, Mac ensured that highly professional work standards were followed. Mac took the time to enjoy his life outside of Skyline. He enjoyed life to the fullest: he was a member of the Gimli Curling Club, Links at the Lake Golf Course and the Canadian Owners and Pilots Association. He pursued his passion for flying and rebuilding his private airplanes, golfing (sometimes 45 holes per day) and travelling. He and Katie visited Africa twice and New Zealand (where they golfed and searched for a Tiger Moth). After numerous visits to Arizona, they purchased a seasonal home in Mesa. In 2003, while in Mesa, Mac suffered a stroke that left him partially paralyzed and unable to speak. Even with his disability, he enjoyed every day with the support of his family and friends. Mac would greet everyone with a large smile and a hug and it was magical how he could communicate without words. Special thanks to the Home Care staff, particularly Linda and Angie for their long-time care of Mac. Also, thanks to Dr. Wong and staff at the Gimli Hospital. A celebration of Mac's life will be held on Thursday, August 15, 2013 at 1:30 p.m. at Lakeview Resort in Gimli. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Salvation Army, 203 - 290 Vaughan Street, Winnipeg, Manitoba R3B 2N8 or a charity of your choice. Rest now Mac, you leave us with a large void but you will always be in our hearts. Neil Bardal Funeral Centre 3030 Notre Dame Ave Winnipeg, MB Phone: 204-949-2200 Gimli: 204-642-7124

I only met Mac after his stroke but through his friends and partner I feel I knew him. I also believe he knew me. Kathy I am so sorry for your loss. The love you two shared was so intense and beautiful it was inspiring for the rest of us. As difficult as it must have been I commend you on your great courage to let Mac make his own decisions. Though we all miss him I truly believe a piece of Mac lives on in you. Thank you for your bravery and support. I hope you know your family and friends are here to provide you with ears and arms and with your strength and love, time will heal your pain. It was an honour to know both of you. To my childhood friend Mickey and his family I send my condolences and wishes for peace and fond memories. My memories of Mac cover a gamut of experiences...good, bad, funny, sad but my favorite was the one which proved his respect and gained my trust. I keep that for myself. Mac, you were a great friend, mentor, and inspiration. I will only be one of many who will miss you greatly. It is seldom that an aircraft flies overhead that I don't think of you! There is a Tiger Moth that has flown over my house almost every day for three years. He always does a tight turn right above me. I can't help but look up, shake my fist and mumble some cusses most ending in "Buggar - Buggar"!! Just like you showed me how. Be at peace my great friend! - Love, Dwayne. - Posted by: Dwayne Kunz (Friend since 1977) on: Aug 10, 2013
