ELISA ANDRADE It is with great sadness and heavy hearts we announce the passing of Elisa Andrade on August 8, 2013 at the Health Sciences Centre. Elisa leaves to mourn her daughters Lucy (David) and Diane (Sean), her precious grandchildren Denzel, Dante and Zoe. Elisa also leaves to mourn her sisters and brothers Margarita (Jose Antonio), Nelia (Joao), Odete (Manuel), Eduardo (Ines), Daniel (Margarita), brother-in-law Joe (Aida), sister-in-law Fatima, sister-in-law Maria (Manuel). Elisa also left behind numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts and many friends whom she loved dearly. Elisa was born August 3, 1947. She moved to Canada when she was 25 and married the love of her life, Antonio Andrade. Antonio passed away in 2001 and a part of her was missing since his passing. The only thing that kept her going was her children, grandchildren and family. Elisa would do anything for anyone. She was kind, caring and most of all giving. She loved to bake and hand out her goodies to everyone. Elisa was a social butterfly and loved to go to the Portuguese park as well as the Portuguese Association for all the functions that were held there. The family would like to thank Dr. Chokabarty and Dr. Verelli from the St. Boniface Hospital. A special thank you also goes out to Dr. Leah, nursing staff and health care aides at HSC. Elisa spent seven weeks in hospital and was cared for by the most amazing staff we could ever ask for. She was cared for in the most respectful and loving way and because of that we are so thankful. Mom was able to share her 66th birthday surrounded by family and friends and was able to enjoy some birthday cake. Mom had a very special relationship with her friend Daniel and he was able to make her laugh even through her pain. A special thank you to her sister-in-law Aida, who spent countless hours caring for our mother. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to The Canadian Diabetes Association and CancerCare Manitoba. Vigil prayers will take place on Monday, August 12 at 6:30 p.m. at Immaculate Conception Parish, 181 Austin St. N. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, August 13 at 1:30 p.m., also at Immaculate Conception Parish. May you finally rest in peace, Mom, in the arms of our Father. May you guide us and comfort us during this most difficult time. We will always be thankful for your kindness and love, but most of all thank you for making us the mothers we are today. Dear Lucy, I was so sorry to find out that your mother had gone when I was not here. It was such a privilege and honour to walk beside you and your family through this difficult time. Even when unwell, your mother's spirit and spunkiness shone through. She was always the highlight of my morning. My prayers are with you all. Thank you for letting me be a part of her care. Sincerely, Dr. Leah - Posted by: Dr. Leah Koetting () on: Aug 11, 2013

Lucy and Diane, our prayers and thoughts are with you and your families. I have very fond memories of your mom, Elisa, especially, when she came to Canada and stayed with us. We were all about the same age and shared many stories. She was always smiling and eager and willing to help others. May God give her peace and be with you all during this difficult time. - Posted by: Maria Figueiredo (Cousin) on: Aug 10, 2013
