GERTRUDE GRACE (nee KRELLER) In loving memory of Gertrude Grace who passed away on August 9, 2013 at the age of 95 with her family at her side. She leaves to mourn her sons Bruce Cochrane (Steve) of Toronto and Paul Grace; her daughters Susan Boulette of Calgary, Kathy Kiziak (Larry), Peggy Sanders (Ken) and Barbara Grace (Jeff), grandchildren Jennifer (Pete), Debbie (Charlie), Kim (Mark), Laurie (Gary), Cindy (Al) of Ontario James, Kevin, Matthew, Jennifer (Bryan), Ivan (Caity) of Calgary, Kenneth and Michael, step-grandchildren Scott (Sarah) and Lyndsay (Derek) 11 great-grandchildren and two great- great-grandchildren. Mom also leaves behind her brother, Clarence Kreller (Elva). Predeceased by her husbands Ken Cochrane and Raymond Grace, son Ronald, daughters-in-law Rosemarie and Ginny and grandson, Ricky. Mom was born on October 23, 1917 in Kitchener and grew up in a large family with loving parents and seven siblings. As a young woman she met Kenneth Cochrane. They were married in April of 1937. They had two sons, Ronald and Bruce. Kenneth was called to war and in 1944 he perished in France, leaving Gertrude a widow with two young sons to raise. Several years later, she met Raymond Grace and they married in 1951. Five children followed over the next eight years, Paul, Susan, Kathy, Peggy and Barbara. In 1958, Ray's work led the family to move to Winnipeg, settling in East Kildonan. As the children grew, the family needed a larger home and they moved to a new home in Transcona. The two most important things in Gertrude's life were her family and her faith. These infused her with a fullness and richness that gave meaning to all she experienced in her long and fulfilling life. Her involvement with Blessed Sacrament Parish is well remembered by many in the congregation even though her failing health did not allow her to attend in later years. Gertrude's large family meant so much to her. The great distance between her and her siblings did not prevent frequent visits. Her sons and daughters and their children provided a constant source of enjoyment and many opportunities for family get-togethers. The family wishes to express their immense gratitude to the staff of the Charleswood Personal Care Home for the kind and professional care which they provided. The funeral service will be held at Blessed Sacrament Parish, 710 Roanoke Street on Saturday, August 17 at 10:30 a.m. Flowers are gratefully declined - instead, donations may be made charity of your choice.
