Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryALLAN JOHN MAGNUSSON 1934 - 2013 Allan John Magnusson, 78, left on his eternal journey on Tuesday, August 13, 2013 in Winnipeg, Manitoba after a lengthy illness. He was born on September 17, 1934 in Winnipeg to Gudmundur Magnusson and Jonina (nee Johnson). Allan grew up on the family farm and attended school in Langruth, Manitoba. Allan married Barbara (nee Foster), of Harcus, Manitoba in 1958 in Langruth. They were happily married for 55 years. Allan had been an active member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church since 1968, and had enjoyed coaching both hockey and baseball for Roblin Park Community Centre. He had been employed by Taillieu Construction for 42 years, retiring as an Estimator in 2000. Allan maintained a hobby farm in Langruth and a Lake Manitoba cottage until 2008. He also took particular interest in his grandchildren's activities, regularly attending their events. Allan was preceded in death by his father Gudmundur Magnusson and mother Jonina of Manitoba; grandparents Bodvar Jonsson and Gudrun Tomasdottir, of Arnessysla; Jon Atli Magnusson and Gudbjorg Hjaltadottir of Strandasysla, all of Iceland. Allan is survived by his wife Barbara; his sons Bradley (Michele) and Leonard (Marilyn); his daughter Maureen Campbell (Ron), all of Winnipeg; his sister Dorothy Koss (Ed) of Calgary, sister Haraldine Webb (Robert) of Manitou; brother James Magnusson of Langruth, sister- and brother-in-law Marie and Alex Ross of Winnipeg; grandchildren Krista Magnusson (Jean- Claude De Clercq); Stuart and Georgia Campbell; Cole Magnusson; great-granddaughter Hannah and many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, 637 Buckingham Road, corner of Buckingham and Eldridge, off Roblin Boulevard, at 11:00 a.m., Friday, August 16, parking is limited; space is available on adjacent streets. The family will be greeting friends and relatives in the church hall directly after the service. A private burial service will be held at a later date. A special thank you to Dr. Joshua and Dr. George, as well as the excellent nursing staff of 3 South of the Grace Hospital. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to the Gloria Dei Building Fund. Condolences may be left on our guest book at the memorial service. Just wanted to express my condolences to you Barb and your family. I know you are all missing Al and grieving his death. You will always miss him but the grieving will diminish.
