I was saddened to read this. We were neighbors at 10 Nipigon Road. My mom and dad Evelyne and George Reese were good friends to the Sitariks. I ran into a comic collector and thought of David. Hope everyone is otherwise well. Mom is 83 now and lives with daughter Marilyne in Ontario. - Posted by: Carol Anne Reese Parrott () on: Dec 15, 2015

I knew Irene since I was 5 years old, when my brother married her aunt. She and her sister Evelyn and I called each other cousins. As children they spent time on our farm and I used to go into the big city of Port Arthur (now Thunder Bay) to experience life "in town". As we grew older I watched Irene in awe through her teen years and was a bridesmaid at her wedding. She moved to Winnipeg a year after I moved to Vancouver with my family, so we missed the opportunity to see each other regularly. But she still looked after my daughters one week when I had to go to Ottawa on business and lacked child care, and as a result my daughters remember her fondly. Over the years, as we travelled from Vancouver back to Thunder Bay we would drop in for a day or longer. We were always welcome and were treated like family. We kept in touch to the best extent possible while raising our families and in retirement, through emails and calls on our birthdays and other occasions. My last visit with her was in mid-June. We chatted and said our good-byes. I had a chance to tell her how much she meant to me. In subsequent phone calls she would ask me to take care of myself. I will try. But it will be a little more difficult without her in my life. I will miss her dearly. I send my deepest sympathy to her family, to her sister and her family, to her extended family and to her friends. I will remember her as a special person. - Posted by: Ethel Luhtanen ("Cousin") on: Aug 21, 2013
