Condolences & Memories (9 entries)

  • Garry was very, very dear to me. He was a friend, nephew, adopted son and a buddy in so many ways. Garry was humble and carried a special grace about him that caused you to just love him. I just want to say here that my world will never be the same and I know this is also true for so many people that knew him. There's a hole in the world tonight that nobody else can fill. Garry, you are home with your mom and dad, Robert your cousin and other family members that have left us. We have this one comfort and that is that we will see you again in a better place. Pray for us that we will finish well. I don't say goodbye but see you again, my precious friend and buddy. Thanks for all the wonderful times we shared in music and just hanging out. I miss you very much. - Posted by: Bert Hiebert (Garry's Uncle) on: Sep 10, 2013

  • I met Garry and Cheryl here in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. I was very impressed with their zest for life, their faith in God and their obvious success in business. Although I know that Garry is now in God's loving hands, it is with a heavy heart that I send my most sincere condolences that he is no longer here with us. Cheryl, may God bless your heart with fond, loving memories and the knowledge that though his time on earth was short, this is a man of integrity that knew how to live, love and get every ounce of joy from this life. He will be sorely missed... - Posted by: Gary Palese (Friend from Cabo San Lucas) on: Aug 31, 2013

  • I just met Garry and Cheryl here in Mexico last winter. I would like to offer my condolences to everyone whose live's will be affected by the loss of this wonderful man. There is a saying Garry would like, "he who has had the dust of Mexico lain upon his heart will find no peace in any other land." Today I went to Copala here in Cabo San Lucas Mexico and tossed some dust into the wind. - Posted by: John Vering (Friend in Mexico) on: Aug 27, 2013

  • I was Garry's Youth Pastor way back when...in the late 70's. I remember Garry and Greg (Penner) bringing out the guitars for youth meetings, birthday parties, jam sessions...They put together the Eagles' song Desperado with Randy Stonehill's Christian song "King of Hearts" and played them at outdoor concerts or various outreaches. We shared so many good times; laughed and cried together....The memories remain..the reunion awaits... - Posted by: David Larson (Youth Pastor 1976-1979) on: Aug 25, 2013

  • Cheryl, As one of Garry's "builder buddies", I was shocked and saddened to hear of his passing. I have great respect for Garry, and the way he represented Manitoba in Economic Research Committee and other CHBA meetings in Ottawa and around the Country. I hope it helps you to know that here in NL and across Canada, his intelligence, his humour and his dedication will be remembered fondly and missed. - Posted by: Jane Morgan (CHBA) on: Aug 24, 2013

  • Cheryl and Terry my heart and prayers goes out for both of you and your families. It's hard to understand why things like this happen, but we know of a strength that will carry you, however broken you may feel right now, through this all. At this time there is no easy way through this, but you have both been provided with friends and family who will hold you up before God and will share their strength and love with you, and will be there for you when you need it most. My deepest condolences our the loss of Gary, truly he was a friend to many and will be deeply missed by all who knew him. - Posted by: Sheila Bremaud (Friend) on: Aug 22, 2013

  • I have only known Gary and Cheryl for such a short time, but in that short time had grown to just love them. He and Cheryl came in my store last week and Gary invited me to his birthday party. I was just thrilled to have been invited. He barely knew me but he invited me to be his friend. I was truly touched and honored. So kind and welcoming. A very good soul. Sadly missed. I am praying for you and your family as you go to your new home. - Posted by: Sylvia Bock (new friend) on: Aug 22, 2013

  • I can remember a lot of good times with Garry. We were in our young teens when we learned how to play our guitars together and shared a lot of laughter. Those were great beginnings and life has given us a great adventure as we knew it would. We did have a chance to reminisce in the last year and now this news is very unexpected. Sandra and I send our love and prayers during this very difficult time. "In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also." — John 14:2-3, New King James Version (NKJV) - Posted by: Thomas Buhr (Second Cousin) on: Aug 22, 2013
