IRENE HARPE With her four daughters by her side, our mom left us on August 21, 2013 to join our Dad, Henry. He has been waiting for her since March 3, 2010. She was also predeceased by her 11 siblings. Irene is survived by four daughters Evelyn Lesperance, Doreen Carpenter, Edna Eby, Donna Harpe (Sean), seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren. Irene was born at Cross Lake, MB where she spent her childhood. The family then moved to Wabowden, MB where she worked as a waitress, and met Henry. They were then married in 1940, and spent 70 years together. She will be remembered for her moccasin beadwork, and her love of baking, especially homemade bread from scratch, which she began doing at 12 years of age. She read cookbooks like they were novels. Irene enjoyed being a stay at home mom in The Pas, which gave her a chance to foster Aboriginal babies from Northern Manitoba while they were receiving medical care. With Henry, she was actively involved in Legion #19 in The Pas, and later Legion #7 in Transcona. Funeral service will be held on Monday, August 26, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at Green Acres Funeral Home, Hwy. 1 East at Navin Road. The family would like to thank the Middlechurch Home of Winnipeg staff for their compassion and caring. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Middlechurch Home of Winnipeg, 280 Balderstone Road, West St. Paul, MB R4A 4A6. Me was a woman of great wisdom. my great aunt has gone to be with the Lord great she was. When we were both in The Pas she was so good to me always bringin over her home made cookies and cake. She was also my daughter's godmother. She bought her so much baby stuff when Cheryl was born. She was a woman of great wisdom. She was like a second mother to me. I will always remember her laughter always happy and full of great advice. She will always be in my heart. a hard working woman who loved every moment of what she did.
