HELEN MCKANE (nee HUNTER) Peacefully, after a brief illness, Helen was asked to dance again with Freddy on August 19, 2013, at the Concordia Hospital at the age of 77. Helen was predeceased by her husband Fred McKane; father Herb Hunter; brother Bill Hunter; stepfather Fred Homik and mother Alice Homik. Her memory will be forever cherished by her son Marvin as well as numerous extended family and friends. Mom was born in Elphinstone, Manitoba, on June 30, 1936, where she spent her early childhood years before moving with her family to Winnipeg when she was ten years. She finished her schooling in Winnipeg and then entered the workforce in various jobs before retiring from 25 years of service at Wilson Auto Electric. Mom enjoyed her retirement years by fishing, shopping, coffee trips, cooking and trying to teach her son Marvin "how" to cook. "Now is your time to Dance again." At Helen's request Cremation has taken place and no formal service will be held. The family wishes to thank the Staff at the Concordia Hospital for their care and compassion shown to Helen. If friends so desire donations may be made in Helen's memory to the Winnipeg Humane Society, Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Cancer Care Society. Marvin, you did a very good job of taking care of your mom in these past months. I know it wasn't easy but you can be proud of all you did for her.Our hearts and prayers are with you, and remember, we are there for you if needed. RIP cuz, I'm very sure you are dancing in Freddie's arms right now, safe and sound, away from all your pain. I have often thought of her over the years, but I'm far away in B.C. and I don't get to Wpg much. But my heart is very sad to hear of her passing. Marvin... I am so happy to see the wedding picture you put in the OBIT. I would like a copy if you have one. And I'm glad too, to hear you still think of uncle Feddy as your dad. With all my Love and thoughts of you Marvin Your Cousin Carol - Posted by: Carol Barron [Remillard] (Niece) on: Aug 24, 2013
