ROBERT W. BRENNAND (BOB) After a long, hard fought battle with cancer, it is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of my beloved husband Bob, on August 20, 2013, at Riverview Health Centre. Besides his wife Susan, whom he cherished and adored; he leaves to mourn his father-in- law Bob McEwen; sister Beth Harris (Ray); and brother-in-law Ross McEwen (Angela); along with niece Katelyn; and nephews Matthew and Ryan. He was predeceased by his father C.R. Brennand; his mother Marjorie Schofield; and stepfather Stan Schofield; as well as his mother-in-law Florence McEwen. Bob was born in Winnipeg on December 2, 1946, and attended La Verendrye School. He moved to Selkirk when his mother remarried and spent his high school years there. Queen's University followed and he moved to Kingston to work on and receive his degree in Chemical Engineering. Upon graduation he worked for Imperial Oil in Sarnia, ON, before returning to Winnipeg to earn his MBA at the University of Manitoba. This was followed up with his Certified Management Consultant designation. Bob loved his work and spent time being self-employed as a business consultant, working for the Province of Manitoba and then Woods Gordon and Coopers & Lybrand consulting Group before returning to work for the Province and his roots, as a Project Manager in Business Development and Transportation Fuels for the Department of Energy, Innovation and Mines. His greatest love was Susan but also the cottage he built at Clearwater Bay in the Lake of the Woods. Many happy times were spent at the lake, relaxing with family and friends. Additionally, Bob was an avid fan of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. We would like to thank the caring people in our lives who have helped us through this very difficult journey. The medical care Bob received was exemplary and special thanks go out to Doctors Breckman, Krahn and Quereshi, as well as the caring nurses at St. Boniface CancerCare, especially Cheryl and Je Yeung. Special thanks also to nurse Barbara at Riverview Health Centre. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, August 30, 2013, at Neil Bardal Funeral Centre, 3030 Notre Dame Avenue (across from Brookside Cemetery), Reverend Peter Bush officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermot Avenue, Wininipeg, MB, R3E 0V9, The St. Boniface Hospital Research Foundation, D1003 - 409 Tache Avenue, Winnipeg, MB, R2H 2A6 or the Winnipeg Humane Society, 45 Hurst Way, Winnipeg, MB, R3T 9Z9. • It was an honour and pleasure to work with Bob in the energy sector. He was a supportive colleague where he shared his knowledge and extensive experience along with friendship. When asked he would offer polite and well thought-out advice along with his gentle humour. Bob was one of the good guys and he is missed. • I provided Bob with admin. assistance at Woods Gordon. He was a pleasure to work with, always friendly, very considerate, and had the neatest handwriting. When he left, he gave me a gift which I still have in my cottage. My deepest sympathy to his loved ones. - Posted by: Beverley Collins (Former Admin. Assistant) on: Aug 26, 2013

  • I had the pleasure of working with Bob in the 1980s. At the time, we constituted Coopers' strategic management services practice in the firm's Winnipeg office. He brought needed business planning expertise that was respected by both clients and fellow consultants. Moreover, his manner was consistently pleasant and constructive, important attributes for a business advisor. - Posted by: Julian Isitt (Colleague with The Coopers & Lybrand Consulting Group) on: Aug 26, 2013

  • Beth and Ray, So very sorry to hear about Rob. Our deepest condolences to you as well as Susan. My memory of Rob goes back many years ago, to when he and my Dad spent several evenings together attending hockey games (was it the Jets many many years ago?) Perhaps Rob had season tickets? I'm not sure, but I do remember that after the game Rob usually came back to our place for a visit. I was pretty young at the time, but I remember him and my Dad hashing out the hockey game and talking about many other things. When he was leaving, he would stand in the doorway and start to say good-bye, but they would always find one more topic to talk about! He was such a good guy! I am so sorry for your loss. - Posted by: Judy and Dave Otto (Friends of Beth and Ray) on: Aug 24, 2013
