DONALD WILLIAM MURRAY May 24, 1933 - August 26, 2013 It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father and grandfather on August 26 at the age of 80 years. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Helen; daughters Catherine (Richard) Kozier, Heather (Bruce) Lougheed, Diane Addison and Donna Murray; sister Margaret Bennett; sister-in-law Barbara Green; eight grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Don was predeceased by his parents William and Edith, brother James, and stepsisters Isabel Haynes and Jean Lillyman. Don attended Greenway, Gordon Bell and Daniel McIntyre Schools. He was employed at WJ Murray and Sons Cartage, Marshall Wells, K-Mart, and Innertec-Security. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. All those who knew him will miss his sense of humour, stories and jokes. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Donald's name to the Canadian Diabetes Association, 1400-522 University Avenue, Toronto, ON M5G 2R5. A celebration of Don's life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 3, 2013 at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave., Winnipeg, MB. www.chapellawn.ca 885-9715

  • I remember growing up in 2 houses, mine just down the back lane from the 2nd on Alfred Ave. Don was the father I never had so I was never sure what to make of him, he treated me like part of the family. Especially on sleepovers when Cathy & I would talk all night and all you would hear was Don saying "girls be quiet and go to sleep" or "don't make me come out there" My deepest sympathy to Helen (Mom) and the entire Murray clan.
