KATHERINE POSELUZNEY After a brave and valiant fight with cancer, it is with heavy hearts and a deep sense of loss that we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, sister, and friend Katherine Poseluzney on Friday, August 30, 2013. Katherine rejoins her loved ones, father Nicholas, mother Doris, brothers Richard, and Kerry. Mourning her loss are her children Kevin (Jodi), and Tracy (Jim), sister Lynn (Bob), brothers Robert (Rhonda) and Tim (Susan), and her grandchildren Kassie, Kenzie, and Nathan, along with numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, cousins, and friends. Katherine grew up in Springfield, where she attended school and met her future husband, Don Palidwor. Katherine and Don were married and had two beautiful children, Kevin and Tracy. They continued to make their lives in Springfield, where Katherine became part of the community driving to endless hockey games and volunteering at the school to help with the Ukrainian immersion program. Their journey together came to an end after 23 years of marriage. Don continued to make Springfield his home while Katherine embarked on a new journey for herself in East Kildonan. Katherine and her trusted dear friend, Julie Vanderploeg, enjoyed countless hours together while Katherine helped her in her garden. Grace Café provided their friendship with desserts and coffee; the perfect combination for any trusted friendship. Katherine's joy and passion lay in cooking, gardening, family and friends. She loved to spend her time outdoors and was able to enjoy, what seems like a brief moment in time, gardening with her grandson Nathan. Her giving nature often found its way to others after a day in the kitchen. Cookies, perogies, cabbage rolls and many other items made their way to countless dinner tables. On Sundays, you could find Katherine attending service at the Jubilee Mennonite Church. It was a place that provided her peace and comfort. She made many friends there, holding close to her heart, a special place for Elizabeth, Bob, and Pastor Dan. The funeral is scheduled to take place Saturday, September 7, 2013 at 10:00 a.m., Green Acres Funeral Home and Cemetery, Highway #1 East at Navin Road, with Pastor Dan Nighswander officiating. Flowers gratefully declined. Donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society. The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation and thanks to Dr. Fatoye, the nurses at Seven Oaks Hospital Unit 5; 1 and 2, and CancerCare Manitoba for their compassionate care of Katherine. Everyone was instrumental in the comfort and support provided to both Katherine and the family during this difficult time. When someone you love becomes a memory, the memory becomes a treasure.
