GLADWYN MURIEL (ORRIS) MCDERMOT On August 29, 2013 at Riverview Health Centre, Gabby heard Glenn say "Gabby it is time to come home" and surrounded with the love of her family, Gabby listened and went to be with Glenn. Gladwyn was born December 13, 1926 in Hazelridge, MB to Hartley and Mabel Orris and was the oldest of three daughters. On August 10, 1945 she married the love of her life, Glenn and they enjoyed 56 years of life together. They moved around from Great Falls, to Grassie Blvd., and when Hwy 59 went through their living room, they decided, in February of 1968, to move back to the McDermot Homestead on Dundee-Garson Road. They worked side by side on the farm, raising hogs, grain farming and harvesting a large garden and all this while they both worked off the farm as well. Together they raised five children, watched them grow and get married, bounded grandchildren on their knees, and even got to see some of their great-grandchildren. Mom was a strong person who took great pride in all that she did, whether it was working away from home, in her yard, or in her garden but what she was most proud of was her children. She enjoyed all the crafts that she did, puzzling, crocheting and knitting, playing a good game of cards and in her younger days, she enjoyed playing and watching curling. She was an awesome cook, (loved those butter tarts) and was a patient teacher and taught us all the value of a job worth doing well. Mom was predeceased by her husband, Glenn; parents Hartley and Mabel; her in-laws John Carter and Erma; son Lorne. She is survived by her children Karen (Allan) Wasko, Doug (Joanne) McDermot, Rhonda (Rob) Poseluzney, and Colleen (Joe) Kuffner and daughter-in-law Judy (Terry). As well as her grandchildren Jennifer, Glenn (Michelle), Faye (Graham), Lorne Jr. (Charmaine), Treasure (Rick), Myles (Tamara) and Trevor. And her great-grandchildren: Patrick, Mitchell, Dylan, Parker, Isabella, Brianna, Justin, Paige, Cooper, Mathew, Aila, Aiden, Haylee, Raegan, Hudson and Madison; her two sisters Shirley and Marlyn and their families of BC as well as numerous nieces and nephews. As per Mom's wishes there will be a private family funeral. We would like to express our sincere gratitude and thanks for all the support shown to us during this time by the staff of Riverview Health Centre. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, the Canadian Diabetes Association or the Riverview Health Centre Foundation. Say Hi to Dad and Lorne and give them a hug for all of us. BE AT PEACE. GREEN ACRES Funeral Home and Cemetery (204) 222-3241 Hwy #1 East at Navin Road, Winnipeg, MB Condolences may be sent to: www.greenacresfuneralhome.com
