HENRY BLAINE MCELROY March 15, 1943 August 26, 2013 The family of Blaine McElroy is saddened to announce his passing on Monday, August 26, 2013. Blaine leaves to cherish his memory his beloved children Shaun and Erin McElroy, along with their mother Donna. He also leaves his sister Dorene Moffat of Killarney, MB, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Blaine was predeceased by his parents Henry and Edna McElroy, brothers Lorne and Brian, and sister Phyllis. Blaine was born and raised on the family farm in Holmfield, MB. As a young adult he left home to explore Canada, finding opportunities in Western Canada, eventually settling in Brandon, MB. In 1993, the McElroy family left Brandon, and made their home in Selkirk, MB, where he spent his remaining years. Blaine was always happiest visiting with old and new friends in his favourite coffee shops. He had a passion for sports, and was thrilled with the return of the Winnipeg Jets. He enjoyed spending time at the Jets games with his nephew Andrew Drinnan, with whom he shared a very special bond. Cremation has taken place. A graveside service is planned for Tuesday, September 3 at 2:00 p.m. in the Holmfield Cemetery, where he will be laid to rest beside his family. If friends so desire, a donation may be made in Blaine's name to a charity of their choice. NEIL BARDAL FUNERAL CENTRE 204-949-2200 neilbardalinc.com
