BERYL NELLIE JONES (nee CROSS) It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved Beryl Jones (nee Cross) on Sunday, September 1, 2013 at the age of 86 years. She passed away peacefully at the Seven Oaks Hospital with loving family by her side. She was predeceased by her husband Edward Owen (Ted) Jones in 1964. She was predeceased by her parents Percy and Elsie, along with her brother Ivan Cross (May 2013). She was also predeceased by her grandchildren Michelle and Raymond Langille. She is survived by her children Carolyn (Ron), Steve (Arlen), Alan (Janet), Doug (Sharon). Grandchildren Richard, Rhonda (Brad), Owen (Shauna), Michael (Amanda), Adam, Shannon, Chelsea (Hans), Brittni, Miranda, Amanda (Brad), Kendra. Great-grandchildren Edynn and Alexander. Beryl was born February 8, 1927 in Lloydminster, Alberta and lived for several years in Vermillion. The family moved to Fort Rouge and settled in the Lord Roberts area where she attended school. She worked for four years at American Jewellers and married Ted on October 11, 1946, after his return from naval service overseas. She committed her life to her family and on the untimely passing of her husband, focused all her strength and energy to raising her four children in the house on Kylemore. She was an active member of the Lord Roberts Ladies Auxiliary for a number of years and supported all the activities her children were involved in. She could be seen at all their sporting events cheering them on from the stands. The family would like to thank the staff at the Maples Nursing Home who provided wonderful care for Mom this past year. A special thank you to Marion for her friendship and kindness. A service of celebration will take place at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, September 7, 2013 at Neil Bardal Funeral Centre, 3030 Notre Dame Avenue (across from Brookside Cemetery) officiated by Police Chaplain, Chief Devon Clunis. Interment to follow at Brookside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba. Condolences & Memories (8 entries)

  • It has been over two years since Mrs Jones passed away but I often think about this family. Mr. Jones passed away when the children were young but he laid a "base" for the family to grow & develop. A family with a limited income that grew into four wonderful people. They all have different personalities but they all have similar characteristics - honest " as the day is long", sincere & hard working. Every positive characteristic that is available could be applied to Cal, Steve, Alan & Doug. This was all engineered by the Mom- Mrs. B. Jones. Truly the mother of the year each & every year.Mrs. Jones raised four great"kids" that have developed into four highly responsible adults. It's worth to note that near Lord Roberts Community Club is a park named after Mr. Jones & a bench recognizing Mrs Jones. A wonderful tribute to a wonderful family. - Posted by: Art Bryant (teacher of Mrs & Mr. Jones children- Cal,Steve, Alan & Doug. ) on: Jan 22, 2016

  • I did not know her but I know she must have been a wonderful person..she raised a wonderful daughter..Caroline..God Bless - Posted by: Pat quoss (friend) on: Sep 06, 2013

  • My Dad, Jim Lynch, and your Dad were close friends and I remember your family well from when we were youngsters. We moved to California many years ago but I always remembered your family. My parents are both gone now but I sincerely offer my condolences to you on the loss of your Mum. The memories are always there and the pain of missing someone loved and gone will lessen with time. Peace be with you - Posted by: Janet Beall (Friend) on: Sep 06, 2013

  • Many fond memories of the many hours and events working and cheering together supporting our children. Beryl was a good and trusting friend. Our thoughts and prayers to the family who hold a very special place in our hearts. - Posted by: Fern Wait and family (friend) on: Sep 05, 2013

  • We are sincerely sorry to have heard of the loss of your Mother. May you draw on the strength, courage, and humor that she has passed on to you throughout her life. It may make things easier for you and you family. - Posted by: Bob , Robyn and the boys (Friend of Doug and Sharon Jones ) on: Sep 05, 2013

  • Beryl was a wonderful person full of fun. I had the pleasure of meeting her several times and we spoke by phone often. She was Ivan's much cherished sister and will be missed. No doubt they are both together telling jokes and laughing in heaven now. - Posted by: Veronica Jongeneel (wife of Ivan Cross (Beryl's brother)) on: Sep 04, 2013

  • To Cal, Steve, Al & Doug and families Heidi the boys and myself would like to send our condolences to you all. Your mom will always have a place in my heart. I have nothing but happy memories of her and will miss her a great deal. She is without a doubt one of the funniest people I have ever met. I am so thankful to have had her in my life. I do not know how many times I have told the story to people I know, how you were all raised in the little green house on Kylemore. Never once did I hear her complain. You are all such amazing human beings always thinking of others before yourselves. She raised a super family. You should all be very proud of that woman she was incredible and she will be greatly missed. You all are so respectful of others and I think it is because of the way she raised you all. I know she will always be looking down on you all. Heidi, Brennan, Jayden & Wade Cadger - Posted by: Wade Cadger (Friend) on: Sep 03, 2013

  • My thoughts are with the entire Jones family for the loss of this remarkable lady. Her pride of the accomplishments of her children and grandchildren was evident in the loving words she spoke, never a complaint. She had a gift which made everyone feel like they were special. Truly a one of a kind gem, and we are all blessed to have known her. - Posted by: Debbie Schmidt (Sister-in-law to Doug ) on: Sep 03, 2013
