VIRGINIA PHYLLIS ABRAMS
Date of Passing: Sep 07, 2013
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryVIRGINIA PHYLLIS ABRAMS It is with heavy hearts we announce the unexpected passing of Virginia on Saturday, September 7, 2013, at the age of 60 years. Virginia will be sadly missed by her son Chris Abrams, granddaughters Madison and Kayliegh and grandson Jayden; son Brent Abrams; stepson Robert Dick, and her niece Marie Birnbaum. She is also survived by her brothers Edward and Raymond Doerksen. She was predeceased by her parents Abram and Aganetha (Friesen) Doerksen; her husband Robert Dick; stepsons Dennis and Clayton Dick; her brother Albert, and sister Irene. If we were to be to sum up Virg's life in one word, "caretaker" is the first to come to mind. Taking care of her family was foremost in Virginia's nature. Never to shy away from the responsibilities of life and death, Virg was blessed with the resilience to take care of such matters. Her garden is another example of her caring nature. The abundant produce was generously handed out to family, friends and co-workers. Virginia had a work ethic that was second to none. She had the organizational skills to work through the complexity of being regional manager for many years at Russell Metals Inc. Curling and golf were sports of choice for Virg. Fishing was another pastime that she grew to love - especially when she caught the largest or most fish of the day. To know her was to love her. Virg will always be remembered as one of those special people that God gave a little more to so she could fulfill her life as a spirit-filled caretaker. A celebration of Virg's life will be held on Monday, September 16, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. at the OakBank Baptist Church, 26033 Springfield Road in OakBank. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of choice. www.seasonsfunerals.ca

Virginia was one of the nicest, pleasantest and honest persons I have ever worked with. She was very instrumental with building the relationship we now have with Russel Steel today. The unsung hero if you will. My condolences go out to her family, she was one heck of a great lady who I only met once, but will have left a lasting impression on our organization.
