GORDON ROBERT HOLLOWAY 1941 - 2013 Gordon Robert Holloway passed quietly in his sleep on Thursday, September 12, 2013. He was born March 23, 1941 to Eleanor and Wilfred Holloway of Stonewall, Manitoba. He leaves behind his loving wife Penney; their son Dan;, daughters Shannon Kjear (Chris, Erik), Susan Holloway (Derek, Walker, Rowan); brother Doug Holloway (Brenda); sister Janet Burwell (Tom - deceased), good family friend Shirley MacDonald, many nieces and nephews. Gord retired in 1996 from a 35 year career with the Department of Transport, which had him in places all over Canada, ending with 26 years at the Winnipeg International Airport. After retirement he did not remain idle for long, working for Greyhound Airlines and driving a school bus for Winnipeg Mennonite Schools. He spent many years serving his community by serving on the Interlake School Board. He enjoyed spending his time being outdoors with family and friends, whether it be hunting, fishing or camping. In his spare time he enjoyed organizing and playing hockey with his many great friends of the Stonewall Oldtimers Hockey team. One of Gord's greatest joys in life was his grandsons and their accomplishments. In keeping with his wishes, cremation will take place followed by a private family service. A celebration of Gord's life will follow on Wednesday, September 18, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Neil Bardal Funeral Centre, 3030 Notre Dame Ave. (across from Brookside Cemetery). The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the staff of the St-PierreJolys Hospital for their wonderful care of Gord. In lieu of flowers, those who wish to do so may make a donation to the Desalaberry District Health Centre for their Pallative Care services, in his name. Condolences & Memories (6 entries)

  • I'm not sure that I should have "favourites" but I must admit Gordon was a favourite patient of mine. I always looked forward to seeing him. He was so kind, had such a great smile and never complained even though he had every right to. I know Gordon will be missed by many, especially his family. May all your fond memories help you through this difficult time. I'm sorry I just found out about Gordon passing away; I have been away from work on medical leave. I too will miss him. - Posted by: Tricia (Family Doctor's Assistant) on: Oct 29, 2013
