Chris and Tracy, I was saddened to read this story 18 months after your Mom died. I am coming to Winnipeg this summer and thought I might look Evie up and my search brought up this notice. You'll recall your Mom cared for our son Paul when you lived on Eldridge Ave. She loved Paul as her own and even came to visit us in Vancouver in 1988 to see him again. Evie was a dear woman filled with love for her family and others. I loved her smile. I hope time is helping you heal. Janice and Glen Macdonald - Posted by: Janice Macdonald (Friend) on: Mar 29, 2015

Oh mom, I miss you so much! I'd give anything just to hear your voice again. You were an amazing lady! Your love for me, Chris and all your grandchildren was unconditional. We could come to you for anything! Your door and your heart were always open. You never judged or looked down on us for the mistakes we made, you just loved us through the pain of our mistakes and celebrated our triumphs overcoming them! I miss you every day Mom!! You live on in the hearts and souls of my children. You showed me what a good mom is and what she will do for her children. I'm trying my best to follow your direction and hope I can be the kind of Mom to my boys like you were for me!! I love you Mom, I miss you and hope you're having a blast chasing the men around wherever you are! When my time comes I'll be knocking at your door. I'm looking forward to the day we can go to A&W for a whistle dog, onion rings and a root beer! Love you mom XOXOXO - Posted by: Tracy Miller (daughter ) on: Jan 05, 2015

My beautiful sister, how I miss you! I look at your picture every day and wonder if it's really true, are you really gone? And depending on the day, sometimes I cry at the thought of never seeing you again on this earthly plain and other days I smile knowing you are truly only a thought away; the veil to the other side being so thin. I know you are close at hand when I need you my sister. I also know you are pain free and happy to be with Mom, Dad, Jimmy, Laverne and the many others who I'm sure were there to greet you. You were a Mother, a big sister and a friend to me, I stayed with you and Bill and the kids when I was a child/teen and then as an adult; my first home away from home was your home. We worked together at Saan Store, we baked, painted, wallpapered, landscaped and God knows what else. We spend a lot of time together and the things I learned from you (and Bill) are with me still. Later in life we came to live together again as friends. I still remember how you would phone me from downstairs to see if I was awake and coming down for coffee; we had so much fun in that house on Evanson St. We had the whole family over for Christmas and we had some house shaking parties as we both entered a new phase of our lives. I miss you Ev and love you heaps. Biggest of hugs from your little sister and friend Kim xxoo - Posted by: Kim Nagam (Sister) on: Mar 17, 2014

Auntie Ev, I spent so much time with you, Uncle, Tracy and Christopher as a child and teenager. Those are some of my happiest memories...you were like a second Mom to me. And Tracy and I ...well we drove you nuts. And Christopher was my baby cousin, A huge void will never be filled, your absence is felt. Aunty save some baking for me...I will be at your door again! Never ending Love....Dawn - Posted by: Dawn (Niece) on: Sep 26, 2013

Evey was such a good friend for over 45 years. Sometimes we wouldn't talk for a few months but when we did it was like we had talked just the day before. No matter what was going on she was always so upbeat and loved talking about her children and grandchildren. She will always be in our hearts as I am sure she will always live in your hearts. We will miss her dearly. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all at this time. - Posted by: Jim and Arline Allison (Friend) on: Sep 20, 2013

When I was growing up Eve used to come to our home and I always thought how beautiful she was and I looked up to her. In later years I came to know her as a dear friend not only a cousin. I realized she was beautiful inside and that is where it matters most. Tracy, Chris she loved you and her grandchildren so much. She will always be with you in your heart. I am so sorry for your loss. Thinking of all the family I know you will miss her too. Love Joyce, Pete & family - Posted by: Joyce Birston (cousin) on: Sep 19, 2013

Eve came into our lives some forty years ago, my first and lasting impression was what a Nice lady. Her bright & bubbly personality always shone through, she had a hidden strength that many of us could draw from. Tracey & Chris remember the good times & hold them in your hearts. We are going to miss the Nice Lady for years to come. - Posted by: Dolores & Craig (Brother & Sister in Law) on: Sep 19, 2013
