Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryNORMAN PARACHOLSKI With his family at his side, Norman Paracholski, aged 81, passed away peacefully on September 18, 2013, at Seven Oaks Hospital. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Jean, his sons Bruce (Jenn), and Randy (Kathy) and grandchildren T.Jay (Desirae), Lindsay, Hannah, Carly, and Meagan. Norman also leaves behind brother and sisters-in-law, and many nieces and nephews. Norman was predeceased by his parents Nick and Anne, and by his sister Edna. Norman was raised on the family farm in the Gimli area. When he was 16 he left the farm to find work in Winnipeg. At the age of 18, after being employed two years he purchased North West Window Cleaning, which he owned and operated until his retirement 57 years later. Norman had a great love of the outdoors. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was the happiest when he was hunting, fishing or mushroom picking. He also enjoyed telling many hunting stories in great detail to anyone that would listen. His love of the outdoors also applied to his home. He took great pride in his yard and would work hard at keeping it looking its best. Norman also curled many years out of the West Kildonan Curling Club, and played industrial league fastball in his younger days. He played catcher and enjoyed showing off all of the fingers that he had broken in his playing days. Norman's love for the outdoors extended to his being a long time member of the Labatt Wildlife Association. He spent many years on the executive of the club and was made a lifetime member. He also helped fundraise for the Manitoba Wildlife Federation by selling raffle tickets. He was the top seller in Manitoba for several years. He was often found selling tickets at the entrance to Cabela's, where he would enjoy the interaction with many of the people that would stop to chat as they purchased tickets. Norman and Jean also enjoyed traveling together. They took many winter vacations to tropical locations. Destinations included numerous trips to Hawaii, Mexico, Florida, Jamaica, and the Bahamas. Norman was very proud of his family. He was especially proud of all his grandchildren. He always enjoyed a good time with his brothers-in-law with whom many a beverage were consumed. The family wishes to extend a thank you to the staff of the Seven Oaks Hospital Intensive Care Unit. They made Norman comfortable with their professional and compassionate care. A service celebrating Norman's life will take place 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 24 at Glen Eden Funeral Home at 4477 Main St. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Fund or a charity of your choice.

To the Paracholski family with heavy heart we would like to express our deepest sympathy. Here's to Norman from Walter: Sorry to hear of your passing. Many fond memories of years gone by. I will miss our visits and long distance calls at which time we would pour ourselves a drink and enjoy it; while we would wish each the best of everything. So one time on Sept. 24 at 3 p.m. I will have a drink of rum while thinking of you. It will not be the same but better than nothing at all. Farewell my friend and may you rest in peace. God Bless To Jean and family may God help you to get through all this. Thinking of you Walter & Angie - Posted by: Walter Angie Pashnicki & family (dear friends) on: Sep 23, 2013

I am sending my condolences from Singapore, where I currently reside. I will never forget my Uncle Norman. He told great stories, had a unique voice, and made great smoked sausage. I have a photo of him in my living room. It was taken when he was a young man, just starting out in the window washing business I guess; he's walking down the street carrying a ladder, with a sneaky smile on his face. He looks happy and carefree. A friend came over and commented that he looks like Brad Pitt, so now when I look at the photo I see not only a beloved uncle, but Brad as well. Whenever I think of Uncle Norman I will think of 'fun'. He will be missed, but never forgotten. - Posted by: Sandra Johnson (Niece and God-daughter) on: Sep 23, 2013

Dear Jean, Randy and Bruce. It is with great sadness that I learned of Norman's health issues, and passing, from my mom and dad. I have tremendous memories of spending so many holidays with all of you, especially at Auntie Anne and Uncle Tony's. I also remember vividly, Norman pulling up onto my parents street, with his beautiful car, and thinking 'wow', they must be rich! Anyhow, you were rich. Richness came with your wonderful family, and with the 61 years you were married. We'll say a special prayer for all of you from Austria, and although we can't fly back to Winnipeg for the service, please know that you are in our thoughts and prayers.
