ALICE MARY ANHALT (nee ELLINGSON) Alice Mary Anhalt, aged 90, passed away peacefully on September 21, 2013 at the Victoria General Hospital. Her memory will be cherished by her three sons Grant (Audrey), Craig (Kathy and daughters Kristin and Alyssa) and Arthur (Mary); grandchildren Branden, Brian (Pamela), Angela and Michelle; sister Ruby; brother-in-law Ed (Donna); niece Cindy (Geoff); nephew Edward; and numerous other family members. She was predeceased by her husband of 54 years, Dr. Arthur Anhalt, brother Bud, sisters Lou and Verna, son Bruce and daughter-in-law Elaine. Alice was born on August 9, 1923 in Shaunavon, SK, the eldest of five children to Benjamin and Emma Ellingson. Over the years, Alice pursued several careers working as a teacher, registered nurse, real estate agent and receptionist / nurse at her husband's practice. But nothing was more important to her than her role as wife, mother ("Dr. Mommy") and grandmother ("Gram Gram"). Mom / Alice, the ultimate caregiver and master chef, will be forever remembered as a kind, gentle, happy, patient, intelligent woman who held an incredibly deep love for family, friends, dogs and birds. She immensely enjoyed spending weekends with family at the cottage in Lakeshore Heights, following the regular Friday round of golf with Art, Ed and Donna. Thank you to Dr. Cavers, Dr. Munsamy and the staff at the Victoria General Hospital and the staff at Misericordia Health Centre for their compassionate care. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Alice can be made to St. Mark's Lutheran Church, 600 Cambridge St., Winnipeg, MB R3M 3G9 or a charity of your choice. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 25, 2013 at St. Mark's Lutheran Church 600 Cambridge Street. (Corydon / Cambridge). • My deepest condolences to Grant, Craig, Arthur and your families, at the loss of Dr. Mommy. I have many happy memories of her, especially the time we spent together at the lake. She was one of the most intelligent, interested, interesting and positive women I've ever met. I'm honoured to have known her.
