On behalf of myself, Joelle, Sylvia and the rest of the healthcare team at CCMB, we wish to express our deepest condolences. Doug was truly a fighter and although he had a difficult journey he never let it break his spirit. He was an inspiration to us all. - Posted by: Jennifer Giardino (Family Friend) on: Sep 27, 2013

My condolences to Dorothy and the family at the loss of Doug, who was such a dear man. He exemplified courage, kindness and concern for others. He was (and Dorothy is) the best neighbour(s) down the street, you could care to have. Such a wonderfully good natured person. Doug you will be very missed by all. - Posted by: Catherine Lee (friend) on: Sep 25, 2013

As a young inexperienced community worker in the late 70's I was hired in Thompson, and Doug was my liaison at MDC. He taught me so much about unconditional acceptance of people as they are, and about not taking yourself too seriously. He became a friend and a mentor and someone that I have never forgotten. I attended his retirement in Winnipeg and met you Dorothy, and was so happy for him. I am so sad that he is taken from you, and his children too soon. He was one of the special ones, and I am better for having known him. I know that your memories will include lots of love and laughs, and I hope that they will ease your sorrow.
