GRAHAM THOMSON It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Graham Thomson on September 23, 2013, age 46, after a short battle with cancer. He will be deeply missed by his daughter Taylor, mother Eleanor (Allen), partner Savannah, uncle Dan, sisters Chris (Shawn), Naomi (Brian), brother Warren, nephew David, niece Christen, many relatives, extended family and close friends. A private family service to celebrate Graham's life will be held at a later date. Graham's free spirit took him on many quests. We, his family, believe he has now joined his father, Bill, for more adventures to come. Considering his love for his dogs, donations in Graham's memory can be made to The Winnipeg Humane Society.

  • I am saddened other of Graham's premature passing. I have a message for Eleanor if she wishes to contact me after all these years. - Posted by: Dr. Colin E. Lumby (Friend of Graham's Mother and his late Father) on: Jun 22, 2018

  • My heart filled with tears when I heard of your passing. It's been many years since we met and during that meeting, you were faced with the tragic loss of your father. I remember watching your strength and bravery through it all and how a very young boy embraced his role as the man of the house. We visited throughout the years and once again, I saw your strength of commitment and your tenacity for fatherhood. You were holding Taylor, who was one, and I've never seen you more proud. It's been a very long time since we last saw each other, but through Dan, I've always been aware of your life successes. We may never understand the "why", but one thing's for sure, your presence has left a beautiful footprint and that can never be taken away. You were a gift and I thank you. • A life lost too soon!!! I lived 3 doors down from Graham growing up. Being younger I didn't have much interaction with him growing up. He was always nice to me because our parents were teachers. I did get to know him quite well in my 20's. I was a singer in a band & he used to come to my shows. It made me so happy to have the support from someone I admired & looked up to for so many years. My condolences to the Thompson & Powell families. You're in my thoughts. - Posted by: Shannon McKenney (Friend/Neighbor) on: Oct 19, 2013

  • I love you Graham and will always treasure the memories you shared with our family and yours. The powers that be always see fit to take the good ones a little earlier, Graham was no exception. - Posted by: mike chirsky (brother in law) on: Oct 08, 2013

  • It was a pleasure to know Graham for the (what feels like) fleeting moments I did, the stories my daughter (Taylor's cousin) provided, kept me engaged and entranced with tales of fun and adventure, laughter and exploration. Grahams' stories preceded him, and his love was felt far from his sight. When I would run into him at dragon boat races and other charitable events, we always found ourselves speed catching up.. it was hilarious fast talking ;) We will always remember his warm hugs, his infectious laugh and his unlimited enthusiasm for ALL the undertakings. We embrace his enthusiasm, and carry it daily. Thank You Graham, for touching our hearts so deeply. For regaling us with stories of your lovely daughter... She is your legacy. Taylor is such a wise, passionate, motivated and lovely woman... We are all so proud of her, your greatest gift <3 Love you Tay, sending you huge bear hugs!! <3 Margaret <3 - Posted by: Margaret Gannon (Taylor's Aunte) on: Oct 02, 2013

  • I have known Gray for many, many, many years and although we hadn't been in touch very much lately, he will always have a very special place in my heart... I have so many memories of him in Grandview at track, goofing around in general, hanging out at the Shoemaker farm, and our time in Winnipeg together at the 'Spag' or at the university. I will miss him - his smile, laughter and nature - immensely. - Posted by: Lori Shoemaker (an old best buddy) on: Oct 01, 2013

  • A very special person has been taken away from all of us much too soon. He was always smiling, and lived his life to its fullest. He loved and was very proud of his daughter Taylor. Every time we talked he would tell me how old Taylor was, what she was doing, while pulling a picture out from his wallet….. he was glowing with pride. He also loved his Great Danes. Life isn't going to be the same without Graham. My deepest sympathy, Taylor, Eleanor and Al. Love and miss you Graham. - Posted by: Kelly Leonard (Friend) on: Oct 01, 2013

  • I was shocked and saddened to hear of Graham's passing. I spent much of the past weekend remembering all the fun we had in first year university - more fun than many have in a lifetime! Thanks for showing me that it was OK to take some risks, and live life large. Although we did not see each other much after university you made an impression on me that will stay with me forever. The last time our paths crossed was the week before you moved to Edmonton - I am glad I had a bit of a chance to say goodbye. You will be missed. My sincere condolences to your family. - Posted by: Todd Hyra (Old Friend, Class of 84, U of M room mate) on: Sep 30, 2013

  • Graham was an amazing person and treated all of us like family. He was never too busy to stop by for birthdays and special days and somehow gifts always had a "scooby-doo" theme! His smile was infectious and he never left our house without giving a hug and kiss. He has had a huge impact on all of us and the memories we have are forever in our hearts. We miss you "Gram"! - Posted by: Lois, Kaitlin and Bailey (Friends) on: Sep 29, 2013

  • Graham was a dear friend. I saw him seldom after our lives took different paths but on those cherished occasions it was as familiar as Sunday night X-files. His ability to smile down challenge is something this world needs more of. - Posted by: Rae Shungur (Friend ) on: Sep 28, 2013

  • Coach and I played a round of golf with Graham two years ago at Northern Bear golf course in Edmonton. Graham forgot to bring balls so proceeded to buy a dozen PROv1's at the proshop $65 (most expensive balls) he proceeded to lose all 12 on the front 9. At the turn he went into the proshop and bought another dozen PROv1's and continued to play. I hope all the PROv1's are free up there Graham. I'll miss you. - Posted by: Andrew Iwanuck (Friend) on: Sep 28, 2013
