CHARLES FRANCIS (FRANK) PHILLIPS July 29, 1924 - September 23, 2013 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dad in the early hours of September 23, 2013 at Deer Lodge Centre. He was 89 years old. Dad will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed by his daughter Allison, sons Jeff (Mona) and Guy (Linda), and granddaughters Stefanie (Colin), Emma and Sarah. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews in Thunder Bay. Dad was predeceased by his wife Mollie (nee Brazeau), parents Alice and Bill, brother Jack, and sisters Jane Seed, Margaret Holford and Betty Marshall. Dad was born in Fort William, Ontario (now Thunder Bay) and moved his family to Winnipeg in 1970. He retired from the CPR in 1984 after 42 years of service. Dad enjoyed gardening, music, oil painting and the mild winters of the west coast. He was a longtime member of Kirkfield Park United Church, sang with the Winnipeg Male Chorus for 17 years, and enjoyed painting with the Norman Art Group, as well as the Sturgeon Creekers. Dad joined the army and served his country for three years during the Second World War. We would like to thank the staff of Tower 6 at Deer Lodge who took such good care of Dad during his 18 months with them, and who were so kind to us during Dad's last days. Cremation has taken place. In keeping with Dad's wishes not to make a fuss, there will be a private family interment. Flowers are gratefully declined. Instead, please make a donation in Dad's memory to a charity of your choice. We love you, Dad. Rest in peace. Condolences & Memories (2 entries)

  • Fond memories of cousin Frank and dear Mollie. Derek & Gladys (nee Beach ) Fitzsimmonds from England. - Posted by: Derek & Gladys Fitzsimmonds (Cousin) on: Oct 03, 2013

  • I was related to Frank through my maternal grandmother and have spent happy hours either in his & Mollie's & their family's company or in exchanging letters with Frank over many years. He & my father (another Frank) also had a long & memorable friendship. The few remaining cousins from England send condolences to Frank's loving family. He certainly was a very special man. God Bless him. - Posted by: Michael Trollope (Cousin from the UK) on: Sep 30, 2013
