I recently heard of the passing of Dennis. My deepest condolences, to the family. Mr. A was an incredibly positive influence on me as I was growing up in St Vital. He was a friend, a brother and a father all in one. Thanks for kicking my butt, when I needed it. I am very proud to have known you . I always loved your UCLA Bruins uniform. Rest in peace my friend. - Posted by: Terry Robertson (Friend) on: Apr 11, 2016

Dennis was a special person that I often think about as my life continues. For me, as a player starting in grade 5, he had the earliest impact on me of any adult outside my family. He was a friend; strange to a 10 year old. He instilled my primary socialization towards others and myself in a positive way that I thank him so much for. I can not put all of that goodness into words. He corrected me when I strayed in my behavior. In fact, he taught me to be a leader, which serves me well to this day. Yes, he was a great Teacher. He taught me to be competitive, but also to be humble. He taught me basketball skills that allowed me to make the Manitoba Team that travelled to Vancouver at age 12, instilling my love of travel that I cherish today. So much do I owe that Teacher who formed me to be a good person! If we all gave as much to others as Dennis did, the world would be a much better place. To all his family, students and friends, we know that Dennis helped a lot of others, so I celebrate the positive impact that he likely made on you, as he did on me. Remember the lessons learned, and pass them forward in his name. - Posted by: David Honeyman, Sydney, Australia (Norberry basketball player) on: Oct 23, 2013

Dennis was my mentor as a Phys. Ed. teacher, Basketball coach and Volleyball coach during my first few years of teaching at Norberry School. More than that, he was a friend; a guy to enjoy a golf game with, and the initiator, along with Pat, of the Alvi 500 that introduced many of us to the fun of a car rally party. He will be deeply missed, not only by his colleagues like me, but by hundreds of former students and players on a team he coached. We'll miss you Dennis! - Posted by: John Matthews (Friend) on: Sep 30, 2013

My sincerest condolences to the family and friends of Dennis. I cherish the Sunday mornings at Dakota Collegiate - back a few years now - when as "Old Guys", we used to run up and down the basketball court, competing and having such a great time. Thanks for the memories "Alvie". - Posted by: Brian Ottenbreit (Friend) on: Sep 30, 2013
