Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryVIOLET (DOODY) MCDONALD (nee SMALDON) October 20, 1933 - September 30, 2013 Peacefully at Teulon Hunter Memorial Hospital, Violet McDonald passed away on Monday, September 30, 2013 with her family by her side. She was predeceased by her parents Florence and George Smaldon, her husband Morgan, Howard and Dot, Bobby, Alex, Bill, Billy and Little Edna Smaldon, who was her lifelong best friend and Lynn, another daughter who was deeply missed. She is survived by Martha, Edna (Russel), Harold (Evelyn), Joan and Lil. Children Gordon (Bernice), Mervin (Linda), Rick (Traci), Maureen (Ed), Bob (Marlaine) and Brenda (Chris). Grandchildren Ashley, Jared, Evan, Londa, Kacy, Kody, Kelly, Joe, Eric, Blair, Brad, Derek, Chantel, Robin, Robert, Derek, Morgan and McKenna. Great-grandchildren Kayleigh, Kole, Kaydin, Logan, Ondray, Breanna, Jennifer, Kady, Aiden, Lucas, Maddin, Blake, Hayley, Alivia, Ryatt and Hayden. Violet was born on Mrs. Lee's farm in Gunton, MB. She was from the generation that knew what hard work was, with no modern conveniences. They forged through the hard times and enjoyed a lot of cherished family times. Mom loved a good cup of coffee with great company; she loved making small meals for 20, baking, her flowers and books. Mom's wish was to live independently in her house and she was able to do that with extra help from Kelly, Joe, Brad, Blair, her cookie baking partner Jared, neighbour and friend Judy, niece Evie and her dog Cheech. She also enjoyed time with all her nieces. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 5, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the Gunton Community Hall. The family would like to thank all the staff at Teulon Hunter Memorial Hospital. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Teulon Library. Distant cousin, born Winnipeg, now of West Chester, PA.
