I have many fond childhood memories of Joan back from the days when she was a young teen - to the warm summer evening when she walked my brother and I to Airlies Drug Store and bought us those small bottles of pop and hot roasted pink pistachios; to when she gave us her Monopoly and Clue board games; to the happy times at the many large family suppers that Ted and Olga put on; to visiting Joan's parents place and making paper flowers from boxes of yellow Kleenex to decorate the Ford for grad; to Walter in his white tux and the good times everyone had at Joan and Walter's wedding reception; to Joan and Walter often dropping by the cabin to see Sam and Mary and my brother and I - either in their sleek mahogany boat with the big orange Merc, or in their float plane. The picture is like yesterday in my mind of Joan, in a bright red dress and leaning back into the sunlight of the windows with a happy smile on her face when we bumped into her on the 3rd floor Eaton's skywalk while she was expecting Susan; and the winter night many years later when we again met by chance at the lake; years after Walter's passing and after our families had gradually drifted apart. Our sincere condolences to Susan and Sandra and their families over the great loss of their mom and grandmother. - Posted by: Dennis Lacho (Cousin) on: Oct 04, 2013
