EDMUND PETERSON December 20, 1920 - September 13, 2013 Peacefully in his sleep on Friday, September 13, 2013, in the comfort of his home, our Dad, Grandfather (Pop), Great-Grandfather, uncle and friend passed away in the arms of our Heavenly Father to reunite with his loving wife Dorothy (died February 23, 2000). Dad will be greatly missed by his eight children, 14 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and niece who loved him very deeply. Dad had sparkling blue eyes, a beautiful warm smile and a content, friendly optimistic disposition. He lived by the belief that "Whatever will be will be". Ed lived a full life with unwavering faith, grace and commitment. He was a Second World War veteran, a good family provider, a hardworking Carlings Brewery employee for over 45 years and a dedicated parishioner of St. Alphonsus for 63 years. His family, home and church were very important to him. Over the years, Ed was very involved in church activities with ushering every Sunday at 9:00 a.m. mass, being a member of the Knights of Columbus, a bingo worker, perogy maker and an executive of the seniors group for many years. As time passed, out of home activities like driving, curling and golfing stopped to make way for the contentment of his home. Pop's house was always open, you would never find the door locked and anyone who stopped by was graced with open arms. A pot of coffee was always on, some type of treat was always offered and the question "Do you want to play a game of cards?" was usually asked. Home was always a gathering place and Dad didn't want to leave his own home to go to a senior's residence. He was proud of his independence, yet he loved company. Dad was blessed with the daily loving care of his youngest daughter Teresa, daily lunch / cards visit from his youngest son Paul, as well as regular visits, calls and company of his other children (Jan, Gary, Mike, Liz, Cathy and John) and grandchildren who loved to spend time with him. We also can't forget Ed's faithful companion Rusty who was always by his side. Dad left this world how he wanted to, in his home knowing that his family loved him. Edmund's funeral mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, October 10, 2013 at St. Alphonsus Roman Catholic Church, 315 Munroe Avenue, corner of Munroe and Brazier. In lieu of flowers, if so desired, donations in Edmund's memory can be made to St. Alphonsus Church or a charity of your choice. Glen Eden Funeral Home & Cemetery 338-7111
