DENIS PHILION Suddenly, it is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Denis, with his family by his side on Friday, October 4, 2013 at the age of 62 years at the Concordia Hospital. Denis will be lovingly remembered by his spouse Joyce; children Jason (Chrissy), Joel (Jeannette), Shannon (Danny) and Shelley; his grandchildren Rhea, Alexis, Paige, Zander; Cole, Carson; Bryn, Rowan; Brett and Noah; brothers and sisters Helene (Ron), Aline (Lynn), Lucien, Beatrice (Greg), Louise (Richard), Yolande (Rob) Simone (Ernie), and Gerard (Kathy); sisters-in-law Darlene, Pam (Ron); brother-in-law Bryan (Marlene) and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He is predeceased by his parents Alphonse (1990) and Yvonne (2011) Philion; and sister Irene (2002). Denis was born May 17, 1951. He was the oldest of 10 children. He was a hard working owner-operator at Canada Messenger, Northern Meats and for the last 16 years, as a painter at New Flyer. He loved travelling, being at the lake, a bargain shopper for the best deal and most of all, attending the grandchildren's sport games. To all of his friends, he was the cook "Chef", a handy man and mover. He will be sadly missed by all. Prayers will take place at Green Acres Funeral Home, Highway #1 East at Navin Road on Thursday, October 10, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. The funeral service will take place at Green Acres Funeral Home on Friday, October 11, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. Donations can be made to The Heart and Stroke Foundation, 301-352 Donald Street, Winnipeg, MB, R3B 2H8.   • R.I.P. Denis. The world just lost an amazing man. What a couple you & Joyce made. You were the quiet one Denis while Joyce shall we say a little more vocal. Sorry Joyce couldn’t resist. Denis would lend a hand to anyone that needed help. He helped me out a few times, which I was very grateful for. We had a lot of good laughs sitting in the kitchen while Denis prepared something for everyone to eat. One never left your house hungry. I remember the many socials we went to & was amazed at how many silent auction items your family would win & thought boy do they have luck on their side. Then of course Denis tells me his secret. He folds the tickets so they push away other tickets. What a good trick, but I think he told too many people about that. Lol Remember the kitchen renovation you wanted Joyce? Denis gets busy following Joyce’s wishes, but then half way through it Joyce changes her design. Denis being the loving husband ripped it apart and started over. I’m sure he may have cursed under his breath, but in the end the job was completed and looked great. I’m sure he was happy that Joyce didn’t change her mind again! Denis, you and Joyce raised four fantastic children. I know there were times you would have liked to have wrung their necks, but you took everything in stride.
