Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryANDREW (ANDY) WILLIAM CHESTER 1912-2013 Peacefully on Wednesday, October 2, 2013 surrounded by his family it is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Andrew (Andy) William Chester at the age of 101. He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife Doris of 75 years, sons Robert, Jerry (Ruby), Randy (Deborah), Kerry, Terry and daughter Donna (Boris). He also leaves to cherish his memory his many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great great-grandchild and many other family members. Andy was predeceased by his father William, mother Lucy, brothers Walter and Frank, sisters Katie, Sophie, Anne and Kay, son Jack and daughter Sherry. With his family Andy emigrated from Pantalowicza, Poland in 1914 on the last ship before the First World War and they settled in Bellhamton, Manitoba. He grew up on a farm with 10 brothers and sisters, lived through the great depression, drove a horse and buggy and traveled by hopping on train cars. He then met Doris and they were married on July 12, 1938. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 8, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue. Interment to follow at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens. We would like to express our sincere gratitude to the doctors, nurses and health care aides at Victoria General Hospital 5th floor for the kindness, care and compassion that Andy received during his short stay. There is a bridge of memories from here to heaven above that will always keep you with us. It's called the bridge of love. We love you!
