AGATHA BOEHLER (HILDEBRAND)
Date of Passing: Oct 06, 2013
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryAGATHA BOEHLER (nee HILDEBRAND) On October 6, 2013, two months and two days before her 97th birthday, Mom slipped peacefully into the arms of Jesus and into eternity. Mom was born in Gretna, MB. She was the third oldest of eight children, when at the age of nine, her mother Katherina died. Once remarried, the family expanded to 16 children. Mother met and married Henry (Dad) in Emerson, MB, where they owned and operated Border Cabins. Mom always worked hard caring for her husband and seven children. She was a living example of "the Wife of Noble Character" Proverbs 31:10-29. In addition to homemaking and operating the cabins, for long periods she worked outside the home. And always she loved to garden. As a young mother this also meant canning and freezing so what her garden produced could be enjoyed year round. While initially a necessity, this continued long into her life, as "homemade" was always the best. This also applied to other skills like sewing clothes for a growing family. She subsequently learned expert dressmaking and even taught sewing to high school girls. In 1961, the family moved to Winnipeg with a home on Kimberly Avenue . Here her gardening focus turned to flowers, a real joy. The best joy of all was her grandchildren and great-grandchildren who benefitted from her caring and giving spirit. In her senior years, she busied herself with knitting, crocheting and other crafts. Mom was predeceased by her husband Henry in 1985, sons-in-law Joseph Rondeau and Robert Thornton, and granddaughter Melanie. She is survived by her children; Florence Thornton, Gladys Boehler, Sylvia Rondeau, Ray (Sylvia ) Boehler, Val Kitson, Sharon (Ron) Gerrick, Brian (Angie) Boehler and 12 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and three siblings. We would like to thank all the 2nd floor staff of Concordia Personal Care Home for the wonderful care they gave to Mom while she was there. We will miss you mom and we thank God for the Mom we had to love us, raise and teach us. "Many women do noble things but you surpass them all" A private family celebration will be held at Klassen Funeral Home, 1897 Henderson Hwy. on Saturday, October 12 at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to a charity of your choice. My deepest sympathy, to the Boehler family. Your mom was a very special lady. I remember when I was younger and I would meet her on the bus, we would sit and chat when we got to her stop she would say see you soon and when we met again we would continue our conversation. May God be with you and give you all the strength, during this difficult time. - Posted by: Candy (Niece) on: Oct 10, 2013
