ALBERT FREDRICK LANGNER April 3, 1921 - October 10, 2013 On October 10, 2013, with his family by his side, dad went to his Heavenly home. He was a wonderful, husband, brother, father and grandfather, and we have many fond memories of his life with us. His unique sense of humour and kibitzing made visits with him always fun. Dad was born in Beausejour as the second of 10 children. On his 14th birthday his dad took him out of school and told him it was time to go to work. With his grade six education, he achieved many things in life. After working on local farms, logging, and working for his father on construction, he ventured off to Winnipeg and became a plasterer. He rode the rails to Vancouver seeking employment and adventure in the lean times. He returned back to Winnipeg to start Langner Plastering, and employed some of his brothers and others for many years, and was known for his quality work. In 1951 he married the love of his life Dorothy and together they raised two children, Leslie and Rosemary. When he couldn't plaster anymore, they purchased and ran Langner's General Store from 1964-72 in Seven Sisters. There he curled, and played baseball with the Hungry Nine seniors. After selling the store, he went into real estate with Fargo Realty in Winnipeg. In the early 1980s he moved to the hardware business and ended his career with Winnipeg Supply. Through the years he made many friends, and was always well respected and worked hard in all that he did. He lived out his faith by going to church regularly and volunteering. He was on building committees at Grace Lutheran in Winnipeg, and St. Paul's Lutheran in River Hills. Retirement found him curling, golfing, playing baseball, woodworking, and attending all of his grandchildren`s sports and activities. He was predeceased by his parents, Gustave and Mary Langner, his brothers, Hammie, Roy, Curly, Fred, and Leonard. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Dorothy, children Les (Theresa) and Rosemary, his grandchildren Jeremy and Stacie Langner, siblings Alma, Frieda and Edward (Melita) Langner and Margaret Ferchoff, along with many in-laws, nieces and nephews. We wish to thank the staff on the 5th floor at Misericordia Personal Care for taking such great care of dad while he was there. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held on Tuesday, October 29, 11:00 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church, 211 Kimberly Ave. Winnipeg, MB. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Grace Lutheran church or a charity of your choice. NEIL BARDAL FUNERAL CENTRE 204-949-2200 neilbardalinc.com
