TERRY WILLIAM RIEGER September 17, 1946 October 5, 2013 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Terry on October 5 with his family at his side. Terry battled his many illnesses over the years with great strength and determination. Terry will be dearly missed by his loving wife, Marlene and daughter, Megan of whom he was so very proud. He is survived by sisters Lynne Belding, Sandi Krug (Mike), Glenda Evans (Don), Gail Harding (Greg), brothers-in-law Dave McIsaac, David Knight (Connie), Grant Knight (Kim), Don Knight (Linda) and sisters-in-law Pat Keller (Ron), Carol Wazny and many nieces and nephews. Terry was predeceased by his beloved parents, brother Allan, sister Carol McIsaac, brother-in-law James Belding and sister-in-law Andrea Knight. Terry joined the Mechanical and Engineering Branch of Manitoba Labour in 1972. He was promoted to Chief of Inspections, Engineering and Technical Services and then became Director of M&E until he retired in 2010. Terry was very proud of being part of the team that developed provincial standards and ultimately national standards for oxygen concentrators resulting in a significant cost saving for hospitals in Manitoba. As well as books and music, Terry loved woodworking and spent many happy hours collecting tools for his 'shop' and working on his latest project. The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude for the ongoing care and support given to Terry by Dr. David Rush, Dr. Martin Karpinski and Dr. Julie Ho at the Renal Transplant Clinic, Dr. J. Toole, Dr. M. Ziesmann, Dr.A. Leylek at CancerCare Manitoba and the excellent nursing and support staff on GA4 at Health Sciences Centre. In honouring Terry's wishes, no formal service will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Kidney Foundation of Canada, Manitoba Branch, 1-452 Dovercourt Drive, Winnipeg, MB. R3Y 1G4. Condolences & Memories (9 entries)

  • Terry was the finest boss I ever had. But far more, he was a mentor, a confidant, and a friend. Terry, you will be greatly missed, and your memory will be eternal. - Posted by: David Kinasevych (Boss, mentor, friend) on: Dec 17, 2013

  • My deepest condolences to your family during this tough time. He always spoke so proudly of his family especially his sweet Megan. I had the privilege to have worked with Terry at M&E and build a friendship during that time. Despite his high position as Director, his kind heart and soul had always shown. He was always respectful and approachable and made time for everyone including myself to chit chat. I owe my position with the Government to him. I will miss our conversation and laughter and yes even his potty mouth. May you rest in peace my friend and be at peace, you are reunited with your best best friend again (your pop). - Posted by: Kattha Oumthongvichith ( Friend and co-worker) on: Oct 19, 2013

  • Dear Marlene & Megan - I began working with Terry when I joined M&E in 1982. Terry always made life at the office quite interesting. Often referred to as one's second home - the M&E family was very special and will always hold many treasured memories in my heart. Please accept my deepest sympathy on your loss. May it ease your burden to know that Terry is at peace. My thoughts and prayers are with you. - Posted by: Cathy Evanyshyn ((past co-worker)) on: Oct 15, 2013
