MARK STEVEN SARANCHUK May 11, 1961 - October 10, 2013 Mark passed away peacefully on October 10, with his family by his side. He had a short battle with cancer and we were humbled by his courage and life spirit. Mark loved life and had a special love for music which started in his teen years when he was the Drummer for the Crash Test Dummies. That love continued throughout his life. He was also a devoted body builder and won the Mr. Manitoba championship in 1984. His interest in computer graphics generated extraordinary art. Mark was also a very enthusiastic hockey fan. He leaves to mourn his devoted companion of four years Irena Gordon and her twin boys; mother Loretta Pawlyk; stepfather John Pawlyk; stepsister Laura-Lee; father John William Saranchuk; brother Kevin (Chris Bartlett); niece Mandy (Cory Smith) Saranchuk, their children Devin and Callie; and nephew Steven Saranchuk. The family would like to thank the medical staff at the palliative care unit of the St. Boniface Hospital for the wonderful care they provided to Mark and their support to the family. He was a pleasure to work with and was well respected and liked by everyone who knew and worked with him. • My deepest sympathies go out to you and your family. Mark was a kind and gentle soul, who had a wicked sense of humour and a heart of gold. He was a sensitive and compassionate man who saw the good in everyone, but could be hard on himself. Mark had varied interests – hockey, music, astronomy, video games, artwork, and writing. Mark would succeed in every goal he set for himself, whether it be his drumming skills, NHL Hockey 11 or his work. Mark spent weeks studying and worrying about a position that he had applied for, constantly reciting the MAF to me and my dog. When he walked into the interview, he aced every question. Mark was a perfectionist in his personal life, although you would not believe it if you saw the state of his car. Mark was a homebody for the most part, but from time to time, his adventurous spirit would come out to see what he was missing. Mark was in awe of Kakabeka Falls until we went to Niagara Falls. His mouth dropped when he first saw it, and he drove the 401 highway like an old pro. It was a pleasure to have known him and I will miss my best friend very much. Mark will be forever remembered, forever missed, and forever loved. - Posted by: Linda Lem ( ) on: Oct 16, 2013
