NELLIE BEATRICE REEVES January 4, 1923 October 12, 2013 It is with sadness that we announce the passing of our loving mother and grandma at the age of 90. She was predeceased by her husband Raymond in 1990. She will be remembered by her children, Douglas, Donna, Gerald, Terry and their families. Mom was extremely proud to have served in the Royal Canadian Navy. Nellie lived her life dedicating her time to her children and grandchildren. She could often be found in her favourite chair knitting in her spare time. Nellie was a generous woman who always took the time out to knit mittens and gather donations for the Christmas Cheer Board. She was a proud woman, hard working mother who took the time for everyone around her. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to a charity of choice. At Nellie's request a family graveside gathering will take place Saturday, October 19 at 11:00 a.m. at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, 4000 Portage Avenue. Condolences & Memories (5 entries)

  • I did not have the privilege of meeting Doug's mother; I am disappointed by this as after reading the passage and learning more about her than I had known, she sounds like she would have stories that would have been very inspiring. It is truly women like her that have had a helping hand in shaping who we are today. Doug, be proud and strong my friend. - Posted by: Doug Walker (Friend / Coworker Sameday Worldwide) on: Oct 17, 2013

  • I could tell from the start that Nellie was a woman of true character. When she talked about her days in the Navy, you could tell that she took pride in her accomplishments, but with a refreshing sense of humility. She will be deeply missed. “…Someone strong. Someone at peace with themselves. Someone better than me. Someone who knows the worst side of me and still loves me.” “Sounds like an amazing woman” (Erica Flynn) “She was” - Patrick Jane, the Mentalist - Posted by: Ainsley McWhirter (Friend) on: Oct 17, 2013

  • Doug, My thoughts are with you and your family. May the wonderful memories created over the years help you during this difficult time. - Posted by: Linda McConkey (Friend) on: Oct 16, 2013

  • Doug & Family, Moms have a special place in the hearts of their children & will never be forgotten. Your mom will be greatly missed and we are so sorry for your loss. - Posted by: Janet, Andrea & Susan (JKL Enterprises) (Friends) on: Oct 16, 2013

  • "Mrs. Reeves" as she was known to us, will be remembered by the Price family as an amazing king hearted woman. The Price and Reeves families met when all the kids were young and Donna became the babysitter for the Price kids. However, even after the kids had grown up and after Mrs. Reeves and Doug moved out of the neighbourhood, the friendship between her and Margaret continued and lasted a lifetime. Monthly and sometimes weekly phone calls just to chit chat were the norm. She was so sweet and always asking how everybody was doing. May she rest in peace. Our condolences to Doug, Donna and the rest of the family. - Posted by: Pat Malynyk (family friend) on: Oct 16, 2013
