EDNA MAE DOUGLAS (nee MARTIN) On October 15, surrounded by the love of her family, Edna Mae Douglas (nee Martin) left to begin her new journey in heaven. Born (March 27, 1919) and raised in Winnipeg, Edna was the last surviving member of the Martin clan. She was predeceased by her parents, four sisters, one brother and her husband Robert (2006). Edna is survived by her daughter Lynda Unfried (Bruce), and her son Brian (Diane). Edna leaves six grandchildren to cherish her memory: Curtis (Leanne) Unfried, Christa (Steve) Unfried, Lee (Judy) Douglas, John (Evette), Shane (Veena), and Devon (Hayley) Hainsworth. Edna was especially proud of her great-grandchildren; Nicholas, Arielle, Marissa, Karsten, JJ, Naiza, Shaye and Ayden. She also leaves a number of nieces and nephews. Edna lived in Winnipeg, Calgary and Kelowna, returning to Winnipeg in 1999. She was active in her church and loved to sing in the choir. She was a long time member of Norwood Rebekah Lodge and was honoured for her work and dedication with the Degree of Chivalry, the Order's highest honour. She loved to bake and prepare meals at work and at home and her hands were always busy sewing, knitting or crocheting. The family would like to thank the 2nd floor staff of Lions Personal Care Centre for their excellent care and TLC during mom's three year stay at the home and especially during her last days. A celebration of her life will be held at The United Church in Meadowood, 1111 Dakota Street on Friday, October 18 at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Odd Fellows & Rebekahs Memorial Eye Foundation, Box 132 4025 Roblin Blvd, Winnipeg, Manitoba R3R 3V5 or to the Lion's Personal Care Centre Recreation Dept., 320 Sherbrook Street, Winnipeg, Manitoba R3B 2W6. Sympathies to you Linda and your family. I remember your Mom so well from our days in Theta Rho. She was always so helpful. My Mom passed in August at 100. No matter how old or how long we have loved them it is a great loss. - Posted by: Jackie Beaton (Friend) on: Oct 17, 2013
